“I stayed at the Cathay in February 2007 and liked it enough that I stayed again in August 2007. This hotel seemed to be a place that alot of Viet Kieu used for a 'home base' on their month-long stays in the country.
The reception girls are very polite and friendly and the rooms are good for local class or back packers. Breakfast is a set menu without alot of options - I would suggest eating out. Rooms with windows are loud, but inner rooms - ideal if you want dark and cool, are quiet.
I paid about US $20 per night for two double beds and a good hot shower. Overall, I felt safe here, and like I said, if wanted a cheap 'home base' while you went all over the south, it would be good for that. I appreciated that for a for the standard of hotel they were, they accepted credit cards - something more common now than two years ago. ”
