After each flight, the human body may feel exhausted due to the effects of time zone differences at the destination (also known as 'jet lag').
Here are 10 tips to prevent 'jet lag' from affecting your travel or overseas business, according to the Times of India.

Before flying
– Preparation: In the week before traveling, ensure to rest, exercise regularly (preferably outdoor activities), eat healthy, avoid caffeine, and stay hydrated.
– Activities: At the airport, move around as much as possible, avoid sitting in one place. This will help you avoid feeling sluggish before your flight. Once onboard, stretch, move around to promote blood circulation, and prevent dizziness during the flight.

– Eat mindfully: On the day of departure, have a complete meal with fruits and fresh vegetables, avoid coffee, refined sugar, and salty foods. If you want snacks on the plane, you can have oatmeal cookies, nuts, etc.
During the flight
– Stay hydrated: Try to keep your body hydrated and avoid beverages containing stimulants. If possible, bring a large water bottle and add herbal tea bags to enjoy hot drinks without caffeine.
– Meditate: Close your eyes and meditate when the plane takes off and lands for 20 minutes each time. Try to breathe deeply and imagine you are 'rooting into the ground' as you exhale. Visualize these 'roots' extending into the core of the Earth and anchoring you.
– Relax: Watch a relaxing movie, listen to music, or read a book. If sleepy, turn off the movie, put the book aside, and prepare to rest instead of dozing off. If you need to work, do it for a short period.
– Rest: The advice is to rest rather than sleep. If troubled sleeping, apply lavender or eucalyptus essential oil to the airplane seat cushion, or use an eye mask and earplugs while resting.

– Use a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on your table if you don't want to be awakened during meal times or by sounds from vending carts.
– Avoid medication: Refrain from using sleeping pills when your body needs to naturally adjust to time zones. If you can't sleep, just relax with the thought that you'll gradually drift off to sleep.
– Avoid napping upon arrival: Try not to nap as you need to synchronize your body's biological clock with the destination time. If you must nap, do so between 2 – 4 p.m. for a maximum of 20 minutes. If hungry, eat lightly, avoid heavy meals as they will make you feel tired.
– Limit thoughts about home time zones: Adjust your watch to the local time of your destination. Don't dwell on home time zones, as it will make you feel worse.
