Regular maintenance is essential for optimal performance of air conditioners and other devices. During operation, air conditioners may encounter issues such as water leakage, mechanical structures getting stuck, or cracks. If not detected and maintained early, these issues can lead to the overall failure of the air conditioning unit.
Therefore, it's advisable to hire a maintenance service every six months to ensure energy-efficient operation and extend the lifespan of the air conditioner.
6. Avoid buying excessively cheap air conditioners
Currently, there are many air conditioner brands available at various price points. However, it's not recommended to save money by purchasing 'shockingly discounted' or extremely cheap air conditioners. With a product used 6-7 hours daily, a cheap air conditioner without new technologies will significantly increase your monthly electricity costs. Not to mention the lifespan issue, which may result in substantial expenses for repairs.
7. Consider using an air conditioner only if you want to cool a specific area
If you're sitting at a desk in a spacious room and don't move around much, there's no need to use the air conditioner. This would lead to unnecessary waste, as the air conditioner would be cooling a large room while you're stationary. In such cases, using a desk fan would be a more optimal choice.
8. Ensure the space is well-sealed
Check if there are any areas in your room where cold air might escape, such as an open ventilation point. A room that is not well-sealed will result in air loss, causing the air conditioner to work harder to compensate for the escaped cold air. Additionally, limit frequent opening and closing of doors.
9. Opt for a moderate temperature
Choosing an excessively low temperature is not advisable. Base your room's air conditioner temperature on the outside temperature. Ideally, the room's temperature should be 4-5 degrees lower than the outdoor temperature. This helps prevent temperature shock when transitioning from the air-conditioned room to the outside. However, consider family members' preferences; for households with children and elderly individuals, a temperature 2-3 degrees lower than the outside temperature is recommended, while for infants, the temperature should not drop below 28 degrees.
10. Minimize heat-emitting devices in the air-conditioned room
Identify devices emitting excess heat, as they will make the room warmer and cause the air conditioner to work harder. Pay attention to items such as desk lamps, certain types of light bulbs, TVs, etc., and consider turning them off if necessary.
