Some common habits of tourists that seem normal but annoy locals.
Living in a city or a famous tourist area, sometimes you get frustrated or annoyed with tourists doing something silly or blocking your way. Here are 10 types of tourists that often make locals easily irritated.
1. Tourists wearing shirts with “I ♥ ____” prints
With such shirts, locals often think, “Our city doesn’t ♥ you.”
2. Large tour groups with unnecessary raised umbrellas
These raised umbrellas make people wonder: “Is the umbrella really necessary?”, “Is she a tour guide with an umbrella raised like a guiding flag?”
3. American Tourists
In many countries around the world, Americans in general and American tourists in particular are often heavily criticized behind their backs. American tourists are often criticized perhaps partly because they don't make an effort to learn the language of the places they travel to and always assume that the rest of the world knows English.
4. Tourists Stopping and Staring in the Middle of the Street
This is also one of the tourist behaviors that don't receive favorable impressions: stopping in the middle of the sidewalk and staring up at buildings, stopping in the middle of the roads and intensely examining a map, or stopping and staring at the top of escalators affect all the people standing and passing by them.
5. Tourists Disregarding Signs
These signs clearly state whether something is allowed or not, but some tourists do the opposite. Although the signs clearly state that tourists are not allowed, according to reports, the percentage of people “crossing the signs” is very high.
6. Intoxicated Tourists
When encountering these tourists, locals will think these guests should go home because they are intoxicated, in this state, they shouldn't be traveling.
7. Tourists Who Think They're Genius
You might think no one is smart enough to come up with and capture unique moments like this, but you're wrong. Later, you return home with that unique photo and realize that everyone who has passed by here has done the same as you.
8. Tourists Who Don't Queue Up
You're the last person in line, you should queue up and wait, don't think about pushing, shoving, or cutting in line.
9. Tourists Dressing Like “Tourists”
You wear outfits that look very “touristy” because you want everyone to see that you are indeed a tourist, but locals think you should wear them at home.
10. Tourists Fond of Tablets
Since the advent of tablets, many tourists have taken advantage of them and treated them no differently than professional cameras.
