Currently, there are numerous changes in identifying close contacts with F0. Therefore, to determine yourself as F1, you should ensure that you have had the close contacts as outlined in the article below.
Conditions allowing F1 to undergo home isolation for 5 days
1. When is someone identified as F1?.
2. Conditions for F1 home isolation for 5 days.
3. Considerations when F1 is home isolated for 5 days.
1. When is someone identified as F1?
According to Document 11042/BYT-DP dated 29/12/2021, individuals who have contact with F0 during the transmission period of F0 (2 days before onset until negative test result or CT value ≥30, or 2 days before sampling date with positive test result) under the following circumstances are identified as F1:
- Direct physical contact with F0: shaking hands, hugging, kissing, direct contact with skin, body, etc.;
- Wearing a mask, having close contact, communication within 2 meters, or in the same confined and enclosed space for at least 15 minutes with F0;

2. Conditions for F1 home isolation for 5 days
According to Document 762/BYT-DP dated February 21, 2022, individuals identified as F1 are required to undergo home isolation for 5 days if:
- They have received at least 02 doses of COVID-19 vaccine and the final dose was administered at least 14 days ago.
The number of vaccine doses administered is recorded on the vaccination certificate, the electronic health book application, or PC-Covid software.
- Having recovered from COVID-19 within 03 months up to the time of being identified as F1.
In this case, a hospital discharge certificate or a COVID-19 recovery certificate is required.
=> Therefore, if either of the above conditions is met, F1 individuals can undergo 5-day home isolation.
Compared to the previous regulation in Document 10696/BYT-MT dated December 16, 2021, the isolation period for F1 individuals eligible for home isolation has been reduced from 7 days to 5 days.
3. Important Notes for F1 during 5-day Home Isolation
Also, according to Document 762/BYT-DP dated February 21, 2022, F1 individuals undergoing 5-day home isolation need to consider the following issues:
- Requirements for isolation location as stipulated in Decision 879/QĐ-BYT, for example:
+ It's best to have a separate room; the isolation room should be well-ventilated, without using air conditioning, and regularly cleaned.
+ Availability of a restroom, hand soap, and clean water.
+ Have a covered trash can.
- On the 5th day of isolation: Conduct a PCR test or rapid antigen test.
+ Testing is conducted by healthcare workers or by the isolated individual under healthcare worker supervision.
+ If the test result is negative, F1 should continue to monitor their health for the next 5 days and strictly adhere to the 5K measures. If symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, fatigue, chills, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, or respiratory infections occur, individuals should report to the health authorities for monitoring, testing, and treatment as required.
Here is the information about the conditions for F1 to self-isolate at home for 5 days according to the latest regulations.
