Converting lowercase to uppercase in Excel is one of the most common Excel office tricks to quickly edit or adjust typing in this software. TechHacks will introduce you to 2 simplest ways to convert lowercase to uppercase.

When editing Excel documents, sometimes you may encounter cases where you want to capitalize text in data cells, but there are too many cells like that, converting each cell takes too much time, so Excel software also creates a function to help you convert from lowercase to uppercase.
However, unlike Word which has a direct character conversion function, Excel is more data-oriented so you will not find a direct conversion function like Word. To change from lowercase to uppercase in Excel, you can choose one of the two methods that TechHacks will guide you through below.
1. Using Functions to Convert Lowercase to Uppercase in Excel
With the method of using functions to convert lowercase to uppercase, you can use two functions: UPPER or PROPER. Both functions help you convert lowercase to uppercase, but their results will differ.
1.1. Using UPPER Function to Convert Lowercase to Uppercase
The UPPER function converts all lowercase characters to uppercase. The final result of the UPPER function will be a row of characters all written in uppercase.
The UPPER function formula: =UPPER(lowercase text you want to convert to uppercase)
The data within quotes 'lowercase text you want to convert to uppercase' can be either direct characters or a data cell address.

After pressing Enter to convert, you will receive the result where the data cell with lowercase text is converted to uppercase from the original lowercase text. Finally, you only need to copy the formula down to the rows below to capitalize the entire text.

1.2. The function to convert lowercase to uppercase PROPER
Unlike the UPPER function that converts all lowercase to uppercase, PROPER function only capitalizes the first letter of each word in the text.
The PROPER function formula: =PROPER(lowercase text you want to convert to proper case)
The data within quotes 'lowercase text you want to convert to proper case' can be either direct characters or a data cell address.

After pressing Enter to convert, you will receive the result where the data cell with proper case text is converted from the original lowercase text. Finally, you only need to copy the formula down to the rows below to capitalize the entire text.

2. Utilize external software assistance to convert lowercase letters to uppercase.
Different from the function method, with this approach, you need to use other software to help convert lowercase to uppercase. However, SoftwareTips will only introduce you to the two simplest and most commonly used software, often already installed on your computer from the beginning.
2.1. Use Word to convert lowercase to uppercase.
Word software is part of the Microsoft Office suite. If you are using Excel, then surely this software is also installed on your computer.
To request Word to convert lowercase to uppercase, firstly you need to select the data area containing the text you want to convert from lowercase to uppercase.

Next, you copy the data of that data array. You can right-click on the selected data array and choose Copy, or use the familiar key combination Ctrl + C.

After copying the data array, you open the Word software.

Paste the data array you just copied into Word by right-clicking and selecting Paste, or using the familiar key combination Ctrl V.

Next, you highlight the pasted data, open the Home ribbon on the toolbar, and click on the Change Case icon with the two Aa characters.

Then, you choose the uppercase style you want. These include:
Sentence case: This will capitalize the first letter of each sentence.
UPPERCASE: This will capitalize all the letters you have highlighted.

To use UniKey for converting lowercase to uppercase, initially, you also need to copy the data array you intend to convert.

Once the data array is copied to the clipboard (temporary memory of the computer, where data is automatically pasted into the clipboard when copied), right-click on the UniKey icon on the Taskbar.
Then choose the line Tools…[CS + F6], or use the key combination Ctrl + Shift + F6.

When the UniKey Toolkit window appears, click on the line To uppercase in the Selection section of this window.
Next, click on Convert code to transform the lowercase data previously copied to the clipboard into uppercase.

After receiving the Successfully converted RTF clipboard notification, it means you have successfully converted the data in the clipboard to uppercase.

The next step is to simply paste that data into the corresponding cell in Excel.
