Documents Required for New Zealand Visa Application

1. Passport
1 original and 1 photo copy. The passport must have a validity of at least 6 months. Check the expiration date of the passport (Date of Expiry) on the main information page. Note that you need to photocopy all pages of the passport on A4 paper, using only one side of the paper.
2. Passport Photos
2 passport photos with a white background, size 3.5x4.5cm, taken within the last 3-6 months. For online submissions, the photo should have a file size between 500KB and 3MB, resolution of 900 x 1200 to 2250 x 3000 pixels.
3. New Zealand Visa Application Form
Download the Visitor Visa Application form INZ 1017 and fill in the required information, then print it out.
4. Original Curriculum Vitae
This form requires confirmation and an affixed bilingual photo stamp from the local authorities. It must be written entirely in English.
5. Health Certificate
Health certificate valid for up to 6 months.
6. Notarized Copies of Personal Documents
You need a notarized photocopy of the family household registration book, including all pages, birth certificate, national ID card, and the current marital status certificate (not required for single individuals).
7. Employment Verification Documents
For Business Owners
- Notarized copy of the business registration certificate.
- Notarized photocopy of the financial reports and tax invoices for the last 3 months.
For Civil Servants
- Notarized copy of the employment decision or labor contract, appointment decision (if any).
- Confirmation of salary for the last 3 months.
- Original leave application for travel or travel permit decision, must be stamped and signed by the highest manager.
For Retirees
- Notarized copy of the retirement decision.
- Copy of the pension book, retirement salary book.
8. Financial Documentation
- Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entry
- Confirmation of savings account balance exceeding $10,000, ownership of stocks, credit card transaction statement with the latest balance near the submission date, the more, the better.

Note when applying for New Zealand visa for individuals under 18, prepare:
- Notarized copy of the birth certificate.

Step 1: Prepare online New Zealand visa application documents

After preparing your documents, proceed to submit the visa application online through the New Zealand Immigration website at this address. Applicants need to create an account to submit the online application.

Step 4: Submitting the passport at the VFS Global visa application center
Although the procedures are completed entirely online, you still need to submit the original passport to the VFS Global visa application center in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, Vietnamese citizens applying for a New Zealand visa can only submit their passports at one location:

If you are far from the VFS Global visa application center, you can choose to send your application by postal mail.
Note: Only the VFS Global visa application center in Ho Chi Minh City accepts and processes visa applications for Vietnamese citizens. The New Zealand Embassy in Hanoi and the New Zealand Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City do not accept and process visa applications for entry into the country.
Step 5: Retrieve the passport along with the visa
You will receive the visa result through the registered email. There are two ways to retrieve the passport along with the visa:
- Collect in person or authorize someone to collect on your behalf
- The center will return it via courier service to you

According to information from immigration.govt.nz, the processing time for a New Zealand visa is 10 - 26 working days. It may be quicker if your documents are complete and there are no major issues.
