Today is a very special day. For the first time, owners of Elite Dangerous on Xbox One can experience the Horizons content for free. This brings together hundreds of thousands of Commanders on a mission to explore the galaxy, so the developers want to seize the opportunity to share with all players 3 incredibly cool things you can do when exploring the Milky Way in Elite Dangerous.
1. Touch Down, Fold Wings, and Roam on Wheels
Accessing moons and distant worlds at closer range brings a marvelous experience in Elite Dangerous, but now imagine being able to land on those planets and roam around in your Surface Recon Vehicle (SRV). Players can explore countless locations scattered throughout the galaxy, from Guardian planets to Thargoid ones, with almost limitless possibilities.

2. Prepare and Be Ready for Anything
In the 34th century, the galaxy can be a perilous place, and even if you're a skilled pilot, you may still need assistance. Horizons allows players to purchase the services of engineers. Collect materials as you travel through the galaxy and visit engineers to craft weapons and modules to upgrade your ship and abilities. If you're lucky enough to discover an ancient Guardian structure, you might even encounter a technology broker. Rumor has it that Guardian residents have some secrets that could give you an advantage in exploration or combat.
3. Form Groups with Friends
In Horizons, you can team up with friends using the Multicrew feature (which allows players to take on crew roles on each other's ships), or if you prefer to travel alone, you can hire seasoned pilots at the nearest Starport. These crew members can operate turret controls or fighter craft, giving you an edge in battle.
These are just a few insights for new Commanders exploring Horizons for the first time. Commanders who have purchased Horizons previously will receive an exclusive gift as a thank-you for your support of the game.
