If you're currently signed in to your Max account via a Roku device and need to log out, there are several approaches available. This guide will walk you through the process, whether you prefer using your Roku directly or accessing the Max platform via its website or app. After logging out, you can either sign back in using the same credentials or opt for a completely different account.
Procedures
Using Your Television
Access the Max application on your Roku television. Power on your Roku device and press the Home button to display all installed apps and channels. Navigate to the Max app using your remote control.
Locate the Settings icon within the Max application. Once you have accessed the Max app, look for the Settings icon positioned at the bottom left corner of the screen. Use your Roku remote to select it.
- For certain Roku models, you might need to access settings through your profile icon located at the top of the app's home screen instead.
Scroll right until you locate the Sign Out option. Within the Settings menu, use your remote to navigate through the top options until you find Sign Out. Select Sign Out to access the appropriate screen.
Choose the Sign Out button. Navigate downwards until you come across the Sign Out button situated beneath your account details. Use your remote to select this button and proceed with signing out of your account.
- Upon your next attempt to access Max on your Roku, you will be prompted to log in once more.
Using the Max Website
Access the Max website via your preferred web browser. Open your chosen web browser on your computer and go to https://www.hbomax.com/.
Log into your account. If you're not already signed in, navigate to the top of the page and click Sign In. Input the login details associated with your Roku account.
Click on your profile icon located at the top of the page. In the upper right corner of the page, select your profile icon. If you have multiple profiles, ensure you choose an adult profile to access the Manage Devices menu.
Choose Manage Devices from the pop-up window. Upon clicking your profile icon, a pop-up window will appear with various options. Select Manage Devices from the menu on the right side of the window.
Locate your Roku device within the list of devices. A new page will open, showing all devices linked to your account. Scan through the list to find your Roku device.
Click Sign Out. Each device you're currently logged into will have a Sign Out option displayed beside it. Click this option next to your Roku device to log out.
- You'll also notice a button labeled Sign All Devices Out. Click it if you wish to log out of Max on all your devices simultaneously.
- Changes may take up to 4 hours to apply if you choose this method. If anyone is actively using Max on your Roku, they won't be signed out until they finish watching.
Utilizing the Mobile Application
Launch the Max app on your smartphone or tablet. If you haven't already installed the Max app, download it from your app store and install it. Then, open the app and sign in using the account associated with your Roku device.
Tap on your profile icon. In the mobile app, you'll find this icon positioned at the bottom of the Max home screen. On a tablet, it can be located along the left edge of the screen.
Choose Settings.

Tap on Manage Devices. Within the settings menu, tap on Manage Devices. This option can be found roughly halfway down the Settings menu. Tap to proceed to a new screen.
Find your Roku device in the list. You'll now see a list of all your devices along with their last usage details. Locate your Roku device within this list.
Tap the X next to your device. If you're currently logged into Max on your Roku, you'll see an X beside the device name. Tap it to sign out of your account on Roku.
- If desired, you can also tap the Sign All Devices Out button to log out from all your devices simultaneously.
