At the committee meeting for the Lam Dong Cultural Week 2013 held in Da Lat today – July 19th, one of the key concerns among content designers is defining the scale and scope of this event, scheduled to take place in Da Lat later this year.

The 2013 Cultural Week in Da Lat is a 'four-in-one' event, comprising: the 1st UNESCO Vietnam - ASEAN Heritage Festival, the 2014 National Tourism Year of the Central Highlands - Da Lat, commemorating 120 years of Da Lat's establishment and development, and the 5th Da Lat Flower Festival.
As per the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, the 2013 Cultural Week will witness the participation of ASEAN countries, ASEAN partner nations (India, China, Japan, and South Korea), UNESCO heritage provinces of Vietnam (including 5 provinces of the Central Highlands, 12 provinces and cities in the Central and Northern regions), and localities with pending UNESCO heritage nominations (participating as delegates, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, etc.). This festival aims to honor and promote Vietnam's heritage, exchange and share experiences in preserving and promoting the values of heritage.
Nguyen Van Yen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, stated: Lam Dong will invite tourism ministers from some countries to attend the opening ceremony of the 2013 Cultural Week in Da Lat on December 27th; invite art troupes from some countries participating in the 2014 National Tourism Year of the Central Highlands - Da Lat to perform. Within the framework of the 1st UNESCO Vietnam - ASEAN Heritage Festival, there will be an international conference 'UNESCO Heritage Network in Southeast Asia: Conservation for Sustainable Development'; a seminar on 'Da Lat Flowers and Tourism'; an exhibition of 'Da Lat Flowers and Wildlife', and an exhibition of artworks 'UNESCO Vietnam - ASEAN Cultural and Natural Heritage Garden'... with the participation of some countries in the region.
