1. Check the image quality in your design

2. Verify the file type selected during the download process
The quality of the downloaded design is influenced by the file format you've chosen.
- JPG is suitable for saving small-sized images. It's commonly chosen for web use, but it also provides the lowest resolution for designs.
- PNG is suitable for saving line drawings, text, and icons with small file sizes. This is also a popular choice for uploading to the web.
- Standard PDF is suitable for viewing multi-page, text-heavy documents.
- Print PDF is the only file format that preserves professional printing quality at 300 DPI. Use this file format for printing or if you want a high-quality version of your design.
So choose according to the file type that suits your needs.
3. When uploading to social media platforms
Currently, social media platforms automatically reduce the quality of your images when you upload them. In this case, the best approach is to download your design in PNG format.
4. Increase the design size
Increasing the design size is also a way to enlarge the file size to reduce blurriness and enhance the image quality of your downloads.
Step 1: Inside Canva's design interface, click on the Share button at the top right corner, then select Download.
Step 2: In the Size bar, you'll need to drag this bar all the way to the right. Then click on the Download button as usual.
5. When downloading as a GIF file
The GIF file format has a limited hard-coded palette of only 256 colors, so when you download a design in GIF format, quality reduction is hard to avoid.
Therefore, instead of downloading in GIF format, you should download in Video format for much better quality!
Step 1: In the design interface, select Share > Download.
Step 2: Click on File Type to choose the format.
Step 3: Select the format option as Video MP4.
Step 4: Finally, click the Download button as usual.
