Microsoft Word is an essential program for many computer users, and while it generally functions smoothly, it's not immune to problems. Basic issues such as font errors in Word, inability to type in Vietnamese, spacing issues, etc., still frequently occur and make users feel frustrated. However, dealing with them is quite simple. Please refer to the following article for common Word user issues and their solutions that we have compiled.
6 Common Word User Issues and How to Resolve Them
1. Font Errors in Word, Excel
Font errors in Word and Excel are basic issues that many users encounter during document editing or data entry. Typically, when downloading Word files from the internet or opening non-authored Word files, it's common to encounter unreadable content due to missing fonts such as Vn-time and Vn-times 2. These fonts are not default in Windows, so users need to download and install them. If you're unsure how to handle this issue, refer to our guide on fixing font errors in Word and Excel that we shared earlier.
2. Unable to Type Vietnamese in Word, Excel
Next, being unable to type Vietnamese in Word and Excel can be frustrating, especially for those less tech-savvy. This common issue arises when users select the wrong encoding or switch modes incorrectly. Rectifying this inability to type Vietnamese in Word and Excel is quite simple. Just ensure you're typing in Vietnamese and in the correct mode, indicated by the 'V' icon rather than the 'E' icon. If it's the 'E' icon, simply clicking on it will switch you to Vietnamese mode.
3. Removing Underlines in Word
By default, after installing Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010, or 2013, blue and red underlines will appear during document editing, which can be quite annoying.
In fact, these underlines are a feature of Microsoft Word, allowing for spell-checking and grammar correction. However, since Microsoft checks spelling in English and we type in Vietnamese, it misunderstands and underlines words as incorrect, except for English words. With just a few simple steps, as previously shared by Mytour, you can easily handle and remove underlines in Word.
4. Sticking Text Issue in Word
During text editing, many users find their documents plagued by text sticking together after entering data, causing frustration.
Text sticking issues in Word often occur extensively in Office 2007, especially when opening Word files created in other versions such as 2010, 2013... Resolving this issue is quite simple; readers just need to follow a few setup steps in Word settings, as we instructed in our previous article on how to fix text sticking in Word.
5. Spacing Issues in Word
Undoubtedly, Word users have encountered the issue of irregular spacing while typing, resulting in words like ' t ai mi en p hi' when typing Vietnamese using software like Unikey or Vietkey. For spacing issues in Word 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016, adjustments need to be made in the Word Options section of the software. Essentially, spacing irregularities in Word occur because the default setting automatically adjusts the spacing between words and sentences. Therefore, to fix spacing issues in Word, you'll need to disable this feature. To do this, please refer to our guide on fixing spacing issues in Word, shared earlier.
Here is a compilation of common Word user issues and their solutions that Mytour has previously shared in our articles. We hope that especially new Word users, who are not yet proficient in basic skills, can find some reasonable solutions for each case. Apart from the issues mentioned today, there are many other common user issues that readers may not be aware of. Each case will have different solutions, so if readers encounter any unresolved issues, they can provide feedback to Mytour, and we can discuss together.
