Yeejkim Yang, a student at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (USA), and a renowned blogger within the ISA community, is currently studying in Seoul, South Korea.
She reveals that after 3 months of living and studying in this beautiful country, she has discovered 6 things that any traveler should do when touring South Korea.
1. Go hiking
South Korea boasts a rich variety of mountains. In Seoul alone, you can hike over 10 different peaks. If you're not lazy, you can even arrange to hike once a week. Standing atop these mountains, you'll witness breathtaking views, especially in Seoul. You can see numerous cities and skyscrapers from the summit. But to ensure you won't run out of water, make sure to carry plenty before embarking on long hikes! It's not just a leisurely stroll in the park.

2. Noraebongs (Karaoke rooms)
Just by walking around any area in South Korea for ten minutes, you're likely to come across at least 5 karaoke rooms (Noraebongs). If you love singing, this is the place to do it. You can go in with your group of friends and choose English or Korean songs to sing. In some karaoke rooms in South Korea, there are even drums to add more excitement to the atmosphere. So, this is one of the things to do if you're traveling to South Korea, especially when it's late at night and you have nowhere else to go. Noraebongs are the perfect choice.
3. Everland and Lotte World
If you're into thrilling rides (roller coasters, spinning swings...), themed parades, or even just cotton candy... then Everland and Lotte World are the places to go! These are two different amusement parks in South Korea. Everland is an entirely outdoor amusement park while Lotte World has both indoor and outdoor facilities. So, you'll experience different things when you visit both places. At Everland, don't miss the journey to visit the tigers, lions, cheetahs, bears... and make sure you don't leave without trying the sensation of riding the T-Express roller coaster. As for Lotte World, be sure to visit Magic Island. On Magic Island, you'll feel like you're in a fantastic fairy tale.

4. Dog/Cat Cafés in South Korea
In South Korea, there are many unique cafes. Just like any other typical cafe, you choose your drink, then sit down and enjoy your drink. In these dog and cat cafes, you do the same, buy your drink and drink it, except that the dogs and cats will run around you! If you're an animal lover, you should visit at least once, because the dogs in the cafe are really friendly and cheerful. In fact, you can even buy them and take them home as pets.

5. Snowboarding/Skiing
Seoul boasts many mountain ranges, and of course, there are ski resorts! If you're a snowboarding enthusiast, you definitely shouldn't miss this activity.

6. Visit Jeju Island

Finally, Jeju Island is a stunning island with breathtaking scenery. No matter where you travel, you should never miss out on beach and island tourism (in general, places with water). Located about 60 miles off the northern coast of South Korea, Jeju Island is 73 km wide, 41 km long, surrounded by vast oceans filled with sunlight, wind, and marvelous natural landscapes. Not to mention, Jeju is surrounded by beautiful palm trees. Here, playing basketball on the beach is an incomparable experience. Moreover, looking out from the hotel room window and seeing the vast ocean, or having breakfast with the serene ocean view, is truly harmonious.
