Discover why the 'Invite Collaborator' option fails to appear on your posts
Key Points to Note
- One common reason for not seeing the collaboration feature is having a private account, so ensure it's toggled off in Settings.
- If your personal account lacks the collaboration feature, consider switching to a Business or Professional account.
- Try logging out and back in to refresh your connection and session.
Steps to Follow
Convert your private account to public.

Having a private account restricts collaboration options. While both public and private accounts can send collaboration invites, private accounts can only collaborate with followers. To collaborate with non-followers, switch your account to public.
- To adjust privacy settings, visit your profile, tap the three-line menu icon, select Settings and privacy > Account privacy, and toggle off 'Private Account.'
Upgrade to a Business or Professional account.

If the 'Invite Collaborator' feature remains elusive, this setting change may resolve it. Navigate to your profile, tap the three-line menu icon, go to Settings and privacy > Account > Switch account type > Switch to business/professional account.
- Allow up to 48 hours for account changes to take effect. Once completed, the 'Invite Collab' option will be available on your posts.
Sign out and then sign back in.

A glitch in your session might be causing issues. Even if all settings are configured for collaborations, a session glitch could hide the joint post option when creating a new post.
- To resolve this, simply go to your profile, tap the three-line menu (hamburger menu), and select Settings and privacy > Log out.
Adjust tagging preferences.

Enable people to tag you on Instagram to receive Collab invites. To update these settings, visit your profile, tap the three-line menu icon (hamburger menu), and choose Settings and privacy > Tags and mentions > Allow tags from everyone.
Clear Instagram cache on Android

Corrupted cached files can disrupt app functionality. To clear the app cache, access your phone's Settings, navigate to App/Apps & Notifications > Instagram > Storage > Clear cache.
Reinstall the app on your iPhone.

Removing the app also clears cached data. Since iPhones and iPads lack a direct method to clear app cache like Android devices, you'll need to uninstall and then reinstall the app. To uninstall the app, press and hold the app icon, then tap Remove app.
- To reinstall, open the App Store, search for Instagram, and tap Install to retrieve it.
Force quit Instagram.

If your app freezes, this quick solution can help. Access your open apps by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, double-pressing the 'Home' button, or pressing the three vertical lines, then swipe up on Instagram to force it to close.
Invite collaborators before publishing.

To replicate collab post functionality post-publish, you'll need to employ workarounds. Ensure you tap the Invite Collaborators option prior to publishing your post, reel, or story.
- To invite collaborators, select Tag People > Invite Collaborators during post creation.
