Travel suitcases appear to be the most practical choice for every traveler, but it seems too small for all needs. Here, Mytour shares tips on how to pack a tidy suitcase with all the essentials for an exciting journey.
Step 1: Choose the Essentials
Select all the items you want to bring on your trip, then gradually eliminate things that you find unnecessary or can be replaced at the hotel. For clothes, choose sets with at least 2 colors to easily mix and match. Choose items with multiple functions, such as a thick towel that can be used as a tent drape, a sleeping bag that can replace a summer blanket...
Bringing too much excess baggage is a common mistake because unnecessary luggage will become a real burden on your trip. Therefore, choose your items wisely and leave at least half of what you want to bring behind.

Step 2: Roll Your Clothes
Roll up your clothes, including underwear, T-shirts, dress shirts, pants, and even jeans. This will help save a lot of space when stacking them vertically in the suitcase and keep your clothes from wrinkling during use.

Step 3: Deal with Larger Clothing Items
For clothing items that cannot be rolled up like suits, formalwear, fold them neatly and place them on top of the rolled-up clothes. Fold longer garments such as trousers, long coats to match the length of your suitcase. For bulkier winter jackets like wool coats, down jackets, avoid cramming them into the suitcase but wear or carry them by hand to save space in your luggage.
Step 4: Arrange Smaller Items
Find gaps in your luggage and place smaller items like innerwear, socks, gloves, belts... This will help you save a lot of space and ensure that your clothes are packed tightly, without shifting during transportation.
Step 5: Secure Your Luggage with Straps
Each suitcase has luggage straps to keep your belongings tightly packed. Before securing the straps, cover your clothes with a clean nylon bag. Thanks to the smooth surface of the bag, your clothes and belongings will not be wrinkled or scratched by this strap.
Step 6: Choose Your Shoes
Shoes are essential items but take up luggage space. Choose 3 pairs: a pair of thin sandals or flip-flops, a pair of sneakers, and a pair of formal shoes with versatile colors that can easily match the clothes you bring. Wrap your shoes and stack them along the length of your suitcase.
Step 7: Organize Your Accessories
Organize accessories, inexpensive jewelry in a waterproof plastic bag. Always carry your passport, cash, expensive jewelry, camera, laptop... to avoid loss.
Step 8: Label Your Luggage
Prepare a small label, write your name, starting point, and destination, then stick or attach it discreetly to your luggage. This action can greatly assist you in cases where your luggage is mistaken or lost at airports, train stations, or hotels. Each year, over 30 million pieces of luggage are lost at airports, train stations, and hotels worldwide.
