During the COVID-19 pandemic, companies and schools face a new challenge when transitioning to remote work and online learning from home. Zoom has become a popular online video conferencing app and the top choice for many companies and schools at the moment.
Common Zoom Errors and Fixes
However, like any technology product, you may encounter some unexpected issues while using it. Therefore, Mytour has compiled common errors on the Zoom online learning application and shares effective troubleshooting methods with you in the following article.
Common Zoom Errors and How to Fix Them
1. Zoom Connection Issue
If you're unable to join a Zoom meeting or class, you may be experiencing one of several issues. The most common is the 1001307000 connection error. This problem could be due to one of the following reasons:
- Internet Issues: Ensure you're not using a VPN. Check if other websites or software are functioning normally.
- Incorrect Information: The online meeting or class you're trying to join may be password protected. Clicking on the link to it might result in your connection being denied.
- Antivirus Software or Firewall: Make sure Zoom is allowed in your antivirus software or firewall on your computer, router, or modem. If security software is blocking Zoom, connecting to online meetings or classes won't be possible.
For instance, with Kaspersky antivirus software, you need to adjust settings within Kaspersky to add Zoom.us to trusted applications by going to the Settings > Anti-virus protection > Web Anti-Virus > Settings tab. Then, click on Add, enter zoom.us, and click OK.
- Expired Network Driver: If your WiFi or Ethernet driver is outdated, you should update them to ensure all software runs smoothly.
2. Zoom Screen Sharing Error
If you have an older computer, screen sharing in Zoom can be challenging. Screen sharing consumes a lot of CPU, and if your computer or driver is outdated, screen sharing may fail.
Some PCs with Nvidia cards have issues with screen sharing. You can address this problem in the Nvidia Control Panel by disabling automatic graphics card switching.
3. Zoom Video Display Error
Before addressing this issue, you'll need to diagnose whether this problem is Zoom not displaying anyone's video or Zoom not displaying your video. If your webcam isn't working, you can continue to explore this issue in the section below. If the Zoom screen doesn't render anything when you join a meeting or online class, you may encounter a problem with the graphics card.
In that case, ensure you've installed the correct graphics driver and try opening Zoom again after updating.
Besides the Zoom video display error, Zoom users also often encounter the upside-down camera error on Zoom. To quickly fix this issue, you need to refer to Mytour's previously shared article on rotating upside-down video on Zoom PC.
4. Zoom Cannot Open Error
Failure to open Zoom is also a common issue nowadays. When clicking on the link sent by the host, Zoom fails to display. However, this is a minor issue that you can easily resolve, helping you to effectively participate in classes or meetings. Specifically, Mytour has previously shared the Zoom cannot open error and its solutions, which you can refer to for resolution.

5. Zoom Installation Error
If encountering Zoom installation error, check your device's memory and ensure you have enough space to download and install Zoom. Then, visit zoom.us or Mytour website to download the latest version of Zoom and refrain from downloading Zoom from unreliable sources.

If you have sufficient free storage space and Zoom still won't install, try installing another software. If the installation process proceeds normally, the issue may lie with the Zoom installer. In this case, contact Zoom support team for assistance.
6. Webcam Not Working Error
Having trouble with your webcam not connecting in Zoom? Here are some quick fixes:
- Ensure your webcam is connected to the computer: If you're working on a desktop, you may have forgotten to plug in your webcam. If you're working on a laptop, the camera should always be connected, but some laptops have a switch to disconnect it. Therefore, check your specific device for more information.
- Make sure your webcam driver is up to date: If you don't have the driver or it's outdated, your webcam won't appear in the program.
- Ensure other software isn't using your webcam: A webcam can only be used by one program at a time. If your webcam light is on, check if it's still on after you've exited Zoom. If so, other software may be using the webcam, such as Google Hangouts, OBS, Skype. Close all those programs one by one to see which one is using the webcam.
7. Audio Sharing Error Not Working
There's a little-known feature of Zoom that allows you to share computer audio. If you're sharing your screen, by default it won't share audio. You have to activate it separately.
If your device doesn't appear in the list that opens when you click More on the Zoom toolbar > Share computer sound, you may need to update your device's audio driver.
8. Zoom No Sound Error
Not hearing any sound? Then your audio output device may be missing or you've selected the wrong audio output device.
To change the audio output for Zoom to another device, open the Zoom app, click on the upside-down arrow icon next to the Join Audio option located in the bottom left corner of the Zoom toolbar. Then select Audio Settings...
In the Speaker section, click the Test Speaker button to play test sound from each connected audio output device. If you don't hear sound from the currently selected device, choose another speaker from the menu or adjust the volume using the Volume slider below.
9. Fixing Zoom Error via Notifications
Zoom settings allow hosts to display common Zoom error alerts on the Zoom screen for users. Specifically, error notifications you often encounter while using Zoom include:
* Notification “Please wait the meeting host will let you in soon”
When joining a class and seeing this notification, it means the host (class moderator) has activated the “Waiting room” feature to control participants entering the class. You just need to wait for the host to approve your entry to join the class.
* Notification “Please Wait for the Host to Start this Meeting / Webinar”
Receiving this notification means the Host has scheduled the class but hasn't joined the classroom yet. Therefore, you need to wait for the host to open, start the online class before you can join.
* Notification “This meeting is scheduled for (date/time)”
Some Zoom users encounter a disruption where they can't join a scheduled meeting with the message This meeting is scheduled for (date/time). Receiving this notification indicates an error in the scheduling process on Zoom, involving formatting issues with the creation time, including time zone, date, and time.
When the time doesn't match the previously scheduled time for creating the classroom, Zoom will display this notification. The solution is quite simple, you just need to edit the date and time of the classroom to match the default date and time format on Zoom.
* Notification “The Host has another meeting in progress”
This notification appears when the class host is attending another meeting and hasn't joined the meeting with you. This issue can be resolved when the host ends the ongoing meeting and rejoins the class with you.
* Notification “Incorrect meeting password please try again” - wrong classroom password entry error
Typically, any Zoom meeting will be set up by the host with a password for security purposes, to control participants. Therefore, if you enter the classroom ID, password, and see this notification, you need to double-check your classroom password. If this notification still appears, you need to contact the classroom host to request a password reset.
* Notification “This meeting id is not valid” - incorrect classroom ID entry error
When joining a classroom with the ID and password but encountering this notification, it means you've entered the wrong classroom ID. To resolve, double-check the classroom ID or contact the classroom host to troubleshoot the issue.
