Grounded: A Comprehensive Look at Life in the Backyard
While players build shelters and scavenge for resources, the diverse insect species in Grounded have their own sources of joy. From ants to pill bugs to spiders, each creature follows a Goal-Oriented-Action-Plan (GOAP) managed by artificial intelligence as they continue their busy lives in the backyard. Ultimately, all our insect friends just want to be happy!
For example, ants are curious little creatures that love exploring the yard. When they start feeling bored, they seek out clover leaves to fill their happiness meter. If you happen to find some napping ants, it means you've encountered a group of blissful ants.
Approach a flooded area, and you might be greeted by a swarm of Gnat mosquitoes. These adorable little bugs enjoy being underwater during the day and basking in the light at night, so encountering these cheerful fellows depends on the time of day.
Searching for one or two mushrooms? You might stumble upon a group of Weevils near a mushroom patch, as these simple creatures enjoy indulging in tasty fungi, potentially leading survivors in the backyard to a delicious food source.
The GOAP AI system generates intriguing gameplay possibilities for players. As developers continue to introduce new insect species into Grounded on Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access, everything will become even more captivating, and they aim to enhance the gameplay to elevate the player experience.
Grounded is currently accessible on Xbox Game Preview, Xbox Game Pass, Windows 10 Store, and Steam Early Access. Players can also explore the vibrant backyard of Grounded on mobile devices, as the game is now available on the Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming platform. Anticipate a content update on September 30th with new items, changes, and fixes, along with some special surprises.
