Explore the unique action cards in this exciting UNO spin-off game
Essential Information
- In UNO All Wild!, each player begins with 7 cards. The player to the dealer's left starts, and turns proceed in that direction.
- During your turn, play any Wild card or action card (such as Wild Reverse, Skip, Double Skip, or Targeted Draw 2). Your objective is to empty your hand before anyone else.
- Remember to shout 'UNO' when you're down to your second-to-last card, beating your opponents to it. Fail, and you'll draw 2 cards as a penalty.
Procedures
UNO All Wild! Gameplay Overview
Distribute 7 cards to each player, then place the remaining stack face down to form the draw pile. Flip the top card over to start the discard pile. This first card is merely a placeholder, regardless of its type.
- In UNO All Wild!, the objective isn't matching numbers or colors; instead, players aim to disrupt opponents with various action cards.
The player to the left of the dealer initiates the game. The dealer is the person who shuffled and dealt the cards.
Play regular or special wild cards during your turn. Unlike classic UNO, there's no need to match numbers or colors. Instead, focus on using action cards to hinder opponents by skipping turns, forcing draws, or reversing the play order.
Opt to draw a card if you can't play any cards from your hand. Take a single card from the draw pile and decide whether to use it immediately or hold onto it, forfeiting your turn.
- For instance: If Player 1 lacks action cards and Player 2 has just one card remaining, Player 1 might draw a card in hopes of getting an action card to prevent Player 2 from winning, such as a Skip card.
When you have only one card left, shout “UNO” to avoid penalties. However, if others beat you to it, you'll need to draw 2 cards.
Achieve victory by emptying your hand before anyone else. Decide whether to conclude the game or gather and shuffle the cards for another round.
UNO All Wild! Special Action Cards
Wild Card: Functions like a regular card without additional effects. It retains the iconic multicolored design found in traditional UNO decks.
- The Wild card is a staple component in the UNO All Wild! game.
- As a nod to the classic UNO, announce a color change when playing this card, although it has no real impact on gameplay since all cards are wild!
Reverse Wild: Reverses the direction of play. If the game was progressing counterclockwise, this card shifts it to clockwise, and vice versa.
- Identifiable by the dual arrow symbol, mirroring the functionality of a standard UNO Reverse card.
Wild Skip: This card causes the next player to be skipped.
- Skip cards are marked by a crossed-out circle symbol.
Wild Skip Two: This card skips the turns of the next two players. If playing with only one opponent, take two extra turns before resuming normal play.
- It bears two overlapping Skip symbols (crossed-out circles).
Wild Draw Four: The recipient of this card must skip their turn and draw 4 additional cards. It displays four overlapping red, yellow, green, and blue rectangles.
Wild Draw Two: This card compels the following player to draw 2 cards and miss their turn. It features two overlapping white rectangles in the center.
Wild Targeted Draw Two: With this card, a player selects an opponent to draw 2 cards. The chosen player must draw the cards but retains their turn. Subsequently, gameplay proceeds as usual.
- Example: Player 1 plays a Targeted Draw Two on Player 3. Player 3 draws the cards and then Player 2 takes their turn.
- This card is denoted by a rifle scope symbol (a circle with four small lines protruding) with a “+2” at its center.
Wild Forced Swap: This card permits the player to exchange their entire hand with a chosen opponent. Gameplay resumes normally after the swap. If you swap with a player holding only 1 card, promptly declare UNO after the swap (before another player does); otherwise, incur a penalty of drawing 2 cards.
- Example: Player 2 plays a Forced Swap on Player 4. After the exchange, gameplay proceeds with Player 3.
Scoring Method
Tally the cards in the opponents’ hands. Upon winning a round, gather all cards held by the other players.
- Note: Scoring is entirely optional in UNO.
Assign points according to the type of remaining cards. Regular Wild cards are worth 20 points, while any action card carries a value of 50 points. Calculate the sum of points from the remaining cards and add it to the winner’s score.
Continue playing rounds of UNO All Wild! until a player reaches 500 points. Official rules dictate playing until 500 points, but there’s no limit to how high you can go! Enjoy as many rounds as you and your fellow players desire.
Pro Tips
-
Some editions of UNO include custom Wild cards where players can write their own quirky rules. However, these cards aren't part of the UNO All Wild! deck.
-
Official rules prohibit 'stacking' (playing multiple cards simultaneously).
-
The rules also forbid stacking identical Draw Two or Draw Four cards across multiple turns. For instance, if Player 1 lays down a Draw 2 card, Player 2 must forfeit their turn and draw 2 cards from the deck. They cannot play a Draw 2 card themselves and force Player 3 to draw 4 cards.
