Review of an Evening Dining at Khôi's Crab Hotpot Restaurant – 18 Trần Hưng Đạo, District 1
Last Saturday evening, our family of five ventured out to Khôi's Crab Hotpot, spurred by glowing reviews from my colleagues. Taking advantage of the weekend, I managed to convince my husband to treat us to dinner. Upon arrival, we were greeted by cheerful and courteous servers who were eager to assist: 'Please, what may I offer you? What would you like to order?'. Overall, such a promising start to the evening left me quite pleased!

Husband graciously let wife browse the menu... Oh my! This lavish meal will probably wipe out several days' hard-earned salary. Clams are priced at 130k per plate, a bit pricey but I must admit, the clams here are plump and succulent, with rich, flavorful broth, quite pleasing to the palate. However, the portion of clams is rather small, with five of us, it's merely a taste for each.

We also ordered a plate of salt and pepper mantis shrimp for 250k per plate. In my personal opinion, if you're at Khôi's Crab Hotpot, you should try this dish. This plate of mantis shrimp is quite ample and plentiful. The mantis shrimp are quite large, marinated in savory seasoning, just right. Chip, Bong, and Cún in our family quickly finished the whole plate.

Having arrived at Khôi's Crab Hotpot restaurant, we naturally had to indulge in the hotpot! We ordered a portion of crab hotpot, priced at 600k per kg! I instructed to take 2 large crabs and choose brick crabs. The crabs are very large, about 2 kg each, our family is all generous people, so we could only eat this much! Admittedly, the crab is delicious, with thick, sweet meat, and the crab immersed in hotpot broth is fragrant! But, eating a meal that costs several hundred thousand VND, it's a luxury for our family's finances!

If the company has a gathering, coming here is also good, the food is expensive but it can't be denied that it's very delicious. The restaurant is not very spacious but it's clean and airy, the seating is comfortable, and the staff are obedient and polite, on this part, I have no opinion at all! After dividing the bill, each person would probably spend around 450k – 500k and feel comfortably full. (Honestly, if the boss invites, I'll go, but if it's just colleagues inviting each other out, sharing expenses like this feels somewhat... awkward!!!)

Moving on, we also ordered a plate of grilled sea snails and butter sautéed coconut snails, absolutely delicious. I have a natural inclination towards these types of shellfish, while my husband and our little one just nibbled on a few to taste. So, the three of us, Chip, Bong, and I, happily finished the entire plate of snails.

Finally, for dessert, each of us indulged in a glass of pomelo sweet soup, priced at a whopping 20k per glass! The Saigon pomelo sweet soup is truly different, unlike the ones in Hanoi which can be overly sweet or bitter due to poorly prepared pomelo rinds. The chewy pomelo rinds add an interesting texture, the mung beans are nutty, and the coconut milk is rich and flavorful, making the glass of soup absolutely delightful!
