Getting to Universal Studios Singapore
To reach Universal Studios Singapore or any destination in Singapore, the recommended mode of transportation (from my personal experience) is the MRT train. Using the MRT is quite straightforward. Most tourists opt for the Singapore Card (allowing access to all public transport) or alternatively, purchase standard tickets at the automated machines in each station. As for navigation and transfers, I rely on Google Maps, simply inputting the desired destination provides comprehensive walking routes to the nearest station, interchange, making it incredibly convenient.
Taking the train to the island, head to level 3 of Vivo City. The train will transport you to WaterFront station, directly at the entrance of Universal Studios Singapore, saving you valuable time.
Universal Studios Singapore features themed areas like Hollywood (replicating the iconic Hollywood Boulevard), New York, Sci-fi City (a futuristic world with modern robots, reminiscent of Transformers, always bustling), Ancient Egypt, Lost World (also known as the Jurassic Park zone with dinosaur-themed attractions), Far Far Away (a fairytale-inspired zone), and Madagascar. In essence, it offers numerous rides and captivating shows on the sidelines, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

When you visit Universal Studios Singapore, you simply must try out all the attractions here, it might take you a whole day. Adult tickets cost around 70 SGD (approximately 1.2 million VND), while children and senior tickets are priced at over 50 SGD and around 35 SGD respectively. It's a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it! Anyone coming to Singapore and missing out on this would be missing out on a lot because Universal Studios has only four film-themed amusement parks worldwide, located in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan, and Singapore. Additionally, it's advisable to purchase tickets in advance due to the crowds; waiting in lines can be exhausting. I personally bought through Klook, it's slightly cheaper and the best part is, no waiting in lines, which adds to the fun!
Experience the spine-chilling night of Halloween Horror Nights 9
Having spent an entire day at Universal Studios Singapore before, my main purpose for this visit was to experience Halloween Horror Nights 9, an event exclusively for the Halloween season. My friends here were very excited about it, so I knew it must be quite thrilling, even though I'm quite scared of ghosts and demons. This year, Halloween Horror Nights™ 9 draws inspiration from the blockbuster horror films of Thailand – Shutter and 4bia, making it a must-visit event.
Halloween Horror Nights 9 takes place from 7:30 PM on select nights from September 27 to October 31, 2019 – you can check on KLOOK for the schedule. As mentioned, it's always very crowded and involves long waits, so it's best to book tickets online in advance. VIP tickets offer priority access to all haunted houses, horror zones, and attractions, plus an additional dinner (but they're twice as expensive as regular tickets, so I don't really recommend them). Regular ticket prices range from over 50 SGD (around 800K to 1 million VND) depending on the timing, so be sure to check on Klook.

KLOOK tickets are particularly convenient as they are instantly confirmed, so you can book with peace of mind knowing you'll get them right away. Moreover, they are open-dated tickets, meaning you can use them on a different day than the one you purchased. And since they're e-tickets, you just need to scan the code to get in; this voucher is stored on your phone, in the KLOOK app, under the Account section!
Basically, there are 5 themed houses, so you'll have to wait quite a while, so it's best to go early to be able to experience all the houses in one evening.
Before experiencing the haunted houses, I got to watch the DEAD TALK show by Gideon Grim – I found it quite interesting, humorous, suitable for young children. The theme, as the name suggests, is quite humorous about death, murder. It's like the steps to become a murderer, such as motivation to kill, finding someone's fears, ways to execute plans, and finally, don't get caught by the police. Overall, it sounds cheesy and silly, but it's actually funny, and occasionally includes valuable lessons to ponder. I was quite impressed with the part where the serial killer Gideon Grim was invited to drink water through a plastic straw, then got angry and said to use the plastic straw and then throw it into the ocean for whales to eat, in short, environmental protection consciousness, very Singaporean. The script is humorous, focusing on small details but with valuable lessons, definitely worth contemplating.

✔️HAUNTED HOUSE IN STRANGER THINGS by Netflix
Fans of this series will surely acknowledge that it replicates every scene perfectly. From Hawkins National Laboratory to the Byers house decorated with Christmas lights and the Upside Down forest. The most impressive thing I noticed was how they meticulously crafted every detail, even if I didn't find it too outstanding personally, I still admire the people behind these creations.

✔️ KILLUMINATI HOUSE
This house is themed like Hong Kong, focusing on the world of Chinese vampires. Everyone knows how scary Asian vampire movies are, so standing next to these ghosts today, I couldn't think of anything, mostly just running and screaming. In my heart, I just wished to get out of this house as soon as possible, haha.
✔️ OIWA WOMAN GHOST HOUSE
Listening to the tour guide's introduction, I got a glimpse of Japan's most haunting tale. It's about a woman betrayed, murdered, then transformed into a vengeful ghost. Basically, that's the gist. Just imagine those Japanese theater characters in kimonos with pale white faces, bold red lips 'visiting' you in not-so-friendly ways. Overall, even if you're scared, please refrain from kicking or hitting the actors. I swear the actors are overly committed, it's hot, and they're dressed like that, they might pass out, yet they keep pestering each group of visitors, must be exhausting.

✔️ PAGODA OF PERIL
This is the temple that holds evil demons and souls of the dead without salvation. I really think if Vietnamese horror movies could apply this trope, they would definitely be box office hits. But I guess Vietnamese temples wouldn't allow this haha.
✔️ PONTIANAK HOUSE
In case you don't know, Pontianak is the name of a female vampire ghost. This house simulates a Malay village – where the ghost was born, lurks, and kills the next victims. Like the other areas, my feeling is just sheer terror, heart ready to jump out. If you're faint-hearted, you shouldn't go huhu or you might end up being carried out on a stretcher haha.
To sum up, Halloween Horror Nights 8 truly exceeded all my expectations. Initially thought it would be just like any other haunted houses I've been to before, but ended up running and screaming throughout the evening. When I got back, I barely had the strength to drag myself onto the bus back to the hotel. If you want to experience it, book your tickets here, guaranteed unforgettable....
Make sure not to miss this experience at Universal Studios Singapore!

Oh, when heading back, you can either go down to the bus station to return to the city (it's free) or you can walk back along the BoardWalk like I did at first. In Singapore, there are signs everywhere so you won't get lost, just follow the directions and you'll get there. The last train and bus depart around midnight so be mindful of the time to plan your transportation wisely and not miss the bus.
