The brackish mangrove forest of Cai Cai is situated in Binh Thuan commune, Binh Son district, 40 km from Quang Ngai city. Seven years ago, a climate change mitigation project implemented here has transformed Cai Cai into a thriving mangrove area.

The brackish mangrove forest of Cai Cái spans 110 hectares, renowned for its millions of white mangrove trees planted in straight rows on the marsh creating a beautiful green landscape. The tree planting is part of the project 'Enhancing resilience to climate change impacts for vulnerable coastal communities in Vietnam' in Quang Ngai, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in collaboration with the Government.

The area of Cai Cai used to be desolate, with sparse vegetation. Since the implementation of the project, white mangrove trees have been planted in straight rows, creating beautiful windbreaks. Since then, the name Cai Cai brackish mangrove forest has become well-known, and tourist visits out of curiosity have increased.

White mangrove trees, well-suited to the soil and climate and carefully tended to, have thrived, and local residents have jointly protected them, leading to rapid growth of aquatic life in the thriving forest. As a result, locals have additional income from aquaculture and tourism services, including boat tours for visitors.

The brackish mangrove forest of Cai Cai encompasses 60 hectares of mangroves and 50 hectares of white mangrove trees. This forest is situated directly behind the dome-shaped hills. When visiting the mangrove forest, tourists will admire long rows of trees, about 100 - 200 meters long, planted straight and evenly spaced, with each row about 4-10 meters apart for easy boat navigation through the forest.

Every season, Cai Cai boasts its own captivating beauty that mesmerizes countless visitors, leaving them unable to look away. In spring, the white mangrove forest sprouts lush greenery, creating a sea of vibrant green. As summer approaches, the mangrove area transitions to a dazzling golden hue. In autumn, the white mangroves shed their leaves, revealing uniquely grayish-white trunks.
