Niki, a female streamer from the United States, has gained fame in Vietnam after being featured by a prominent local fan page.
'Niki,' whose real name is Nikita, aged 27, resides in Texas, USA, and is a relatively unknown streamer. On Twitch, where Niki operates, she has just over 10,000 followers. Across other social media platforms such as Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, or Twitter, Niki also only has a few thousand followers.
However, Niki has suddenly become a sensation in Vietnam. Her follower count has doubled, reaching nearly 23,000, in just over a day. Niki's livestreams have peaked at nearly 3,000 concurrent viewers, a figure she had never achieved before. The majority of comments on her livestreams come from Vietnamese fans.
It all began with a video circulating on Facebook fan pages in Vietnam. During one of her streams, Niki portrayed a nun and listened to 'confessions' from viewers. One of the stories, involving a fish, garnered attention due to its comedic nature.
'Anh Da Đen,' a major entertainment fan page in Vietnam with nearly 1 million likes and 2.5 million followers, shared Niki's video. The video has now garnered over 5 million views, 356,000 reactions, 63,000 comments, and 17,000 shares within 5 days.

The video posted on Anh Da Đen's fan page attracted an enormous amount of views.
Despite gaining fame in Vietnam thanks to being featured by Anh Da Đen, Niki feels rather discontented with the page managers. Not only did Anh Da Đen use the video without crediting Niki, but they also edited it to remove her watermark and inserted their own. Additionally, the video was flipped and the sound distorted, common tactics to evade copyright detection by platforms.

Niki speaks out about Anh Da Đen's fan page posting her video on Facebook without crediting her.
'They didn't credit me at all. In fact, they did the opposite. They cut out my name from the video and put theirs in,' Niki said on livestream.
The video brings revenue to Anh Da Đen's administration, as Facebook has a mechanism for paying fan pages based on viewer count. Additionally, the administrators of Anh Da Đen post affiliate links in the comments section to earn extra revenue from an e-commerce platform.
Referring to other videos by Anh Da Đen, almost all of them are from foreign content creators, yet none are credited and all have the fan page's watermark. However, this page has been operating smoothly for many years without encountering any obstacles, and even garners significant interaction. On average, each post by Anh Da Đen receives tens to hundreds of thousands of reactions.

Videos from foreign content creators are being widely shared on Facebook without encountering copyright issues.

Copyright infringement has been rampant on Facebook for some time now. Unlike YouTube, the social network owned by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg has yet to take decisive actions to curb this.
Previously, many shadowy fan pages disguised as 'movie review' pages were condemned for copyright violations. Instead of reviewing movies, these fan pages summarized the entire film and used numerous copyrighted images, severely affecting filmmakers.
With the copyright issues of blockbuster films backed by major studios still unresolved, it becomes significantly more challenging for independent content creators. Especially in countries like the USA, where the youth are less inclined to use Facebook and prefer platforms like Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, not every content creator is aware that their videos are being unlawfully uploaded by another entity for commercial purposes.
For small content creators like Niki, she doesn't expect to file complaints on Facebook to share profits from cases of 're-up' like Anh Da Đen. This female streamer doesn't even use Facebook and had to create a 'temporary' account just to comment on videos. And all she wants is a few credits to herself.
'If you intend to make money from my videos, I can't stop you. But at least, can't you credit me?', Niki said.
