Visiting these 2 eco-tourism spots in Dong Thap, you'll get to canoe and admire the vast river landscapes, for a truly fulfilling vacation.
You must travel to Dong Thap because of these two amazing eco-tourism spots.
Xeo Quyt Ecotourism Area
Located approximately 30km from the center of Cao Lanh city, spanning the areas of My Long and My Hiep communes, the historical relic site combined with Xeo Quyt eco-tourism area will make visitors feel like they're lost in a pristine forest with stunning scenery.

Typically, tourists pass through the An Huu junction in Cai Be district (Tien Giang) to Long Hiep bridge, then take a ferry to Xeo Quyt, or can travel by road from National Highway 1, then turn onto National Highway 30, heading directly to Xeo Quyt.

In the past, Xeo Quyt was a desolate marshland with wild grass, tangled channels, and dense reeds, so it was chosen as a strategic base for leading the people's resistance from 1960 to 1975. Now, Xeo Quyt is not only a historical relic but also one of the unique tourist destinations, leaving many beautiful impressions on visitors.

Covering an area of about 50 hectares, including 20 hectares of cajuput forest, Xeo Quyt boasts a stunning natural landscape with a refreshing green color. Tourists visiting the relic area have two means of transportation. If you like to wander under the forest canopy, you can hike along the solitary road in the relic area, about 1.5 km long. Otherwise, you can experience the feeling of the Mekong Delta's waterways by sitting on a sampan, slowly drifting along the small creeks to explore the entire relic area.

Visiting Xeo Quyt during the dry season, you will traverse the winding paths under the cool cajuput canopy. If your feet grow weary, you can rest in a hammock, gazing up at the leaves. During the flood season, on a three-leaf boat, the female guerrillas in black ao ba ba, checkered scarves, and conical hats will guide you through the primitive creeks to reach the hidden relics amidst the vast cajuput forest.

In addition to experiencing history, visitors can participate in folk games such as cockfighting, bird fights, visit the rustic countryside markets imbued with Southern characteristics, and savor the famous delicacies of Dong Thap province. Moreover, boats also take tourists to visit the renowned craft villages, listen to the melodious folk songs, and enjoy the tunes of Don ca tai tu music by the river.
Gao Giồng Ecotourism Area
Dubbed as a miniature Mekong Delta, the Gao Giồng ecotourism area is located in Hamlet 6, Gao Giồng Commune, Cao Lanh District, covering an area of 1,700 hectares, mainly consisting of cajuput forests. Visitors to Gao Giồng will feel the tranquility and excitement as they sway on three-leaf boats through the canals, cycle through the cajuput forest, relax in leaf huts, and indulge in the seasonal specialties of the floodwaters.

Located within the preserved cajuput forest, the Gao Giồng ecotourism area provides all-natural conditions to satisfy tourists' ecological exploration needs. This place boasts a 40-hectare bird sanctuary with 15 resident bird species, notably the crested argus and the green peafowl – two species listed in Vietnam's Red Book. The intricate canal system is home to various fish species such as snakehead fish, carp, catfish, gourami, climbing perch, snakes, eels, turtles, pythons, and field mice. Moreover, Gao Giồng is enveloped in a vast green color of thousands of hectares of forest with typical flood-resistant tree species such as cajuput, gao, dien dien, and reeds.

To visit the bird sanctuary, tourists can travel on small boats along the cool green channels with local women dressed in traditional Southern ao ba ba attire. After indulging in the exploration of Gao Giồng, visitors can relish in local delicacies such as grilled snakehead fish wrapped in lotus leaves, grilled field mice with mango fish sauce, steamed snails with pepper, which will captivate the taste buds of tourists.
