Visiting the farmer's market not only allowed me to vividly experience the rustic life of Italy but also made me feel close, as if I were shopping in my hometown.
A Vietnamese Girl's Experience in Italy: Exploring Farmer's Markets for Fresh Produce and Joyful Promotions
When Italy is mentioned, one might think of pizza, gelato - global culinary sensations, the dazzling Mediterranean Sea, or the glamorous tapestry woven from natural wonders, cultural heritage, and architectural marvels that the world admires. But let me share another perspective of this boot-shaped land; it is a vibrant, joyful, and unexpectedly intimate soul found in the farmers' markets.
I've heard my close friend say, 'When traveling, visiting markets is the quickest way to connect with and experience local life.' I always apply this philosophy to all my journeys. Italy, in particular, is not just a destination for me; it's where I live and immerse myself, at least for a few years. Therefore, the market is an indispensable part of my life. Every week, I make sure to pay a visit at least once.

In Italy, and Western countries in general, people often do most of their shopping in supermarkets because all essential items are readily available and sometimes even cheaper than at the market. For example, during strawberry season, you can get a tray of about 500 grams for just 1 euro (approximately 25,000 VND) at the supermarket. However, at the market, the same quantity might cost you up to 2 euros. But do you know why the farmer's markets in Italy are far from being deserted or empty?
