In late February, the isekai genre anime once again captivates the anime community. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Crimson Connection (original title: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime The Movie: Scarlet Bond) will officially hit Vietnamese theaters. This marks the first time the light novel - anime brand steps onto the big screen.
The story of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime revolves around 37-year-old Mikami Satoru, living a mundane life... until he dies and is reincarnated as a slime! After getting used to this peculiar form, he embarks on an adventure to explore the new world as Rimuru Tempest, building his own nation, Jura Tempest, and changing the world. In the movie, Rimuru travels to the Razha nation in West Tempest. Rimuru and his subordinates become entangled in a conspiracy surrounding a mysterious girl, kicking off a dangerous yet thrilling adventure.
From the popular web novel series by Fuse and Mitz Vah, the brand has evolved into a beloved anime series and now a successful film in the Japanese market. The film has performed well domestically, surpassing the 1 billion yen revenue mark. Both the anime series and the film adaptation attract audiences with their humorous and engaging story about the slime's adventures in the monster world. Additionally, the author's fantastic imagination contributes to crafting a sophisticated and surprising fantasy world. The film is currently screening in Vietnam and receives strong support from anime enthusiasts.
Locked Doors: Suzume's Quest
Although not part of a standalone anime franchise, Locked Doors: Suzume's Quest (original title: Suzume) has been eagerly anticipated by audiences since the first details emerged, as it is the latest work from renowned director Shinkai Makoto. Following the success of anime blockbusters like Your Name and Weathering with You, this film is sure to satisfy fans of 'the sorcerer of sadness' as well as cinema lovers in general.
The film tells the story of Suzume, a 17-year-old high school student living in Kyushu. She coincidentally meets Sota, a final year student with dreams of becoming a teacher, on a journey in search of doors. Following Sota to a tourist area, Suzume finds an old door that appears abandoned amidst rubble. After Suzume inadvertently opens the door, strange doors begin to appear all over Japan, bringing calamity from the world beyond. Determined to close all these doors and protect the peaceful world, high school student Suzume embarks on a journey across Japan. Despite countless dangers, Suzume continues to move forward.
Exciting, suspenseful, and humane, Suzume will provide wonderful moments as we follow young Suzume's journey across Japan to restore peace for everyone. True to the 'film brand' of Shinkai Makoto, Suzume boasts mesmerizing visuals and impressive music featuring RADWIMPS. The film will officially premiere in Vietnam on 10.03.2023.
The First Slam Dunk: The Movie
The manga-anime synonymous with the youth of the 80s and 90s has finally made its way to the big screen. The greatest basketball manga-anime of all time, Slam Dunk, has been adapted into a film titled The First Slam Dunk and has caused a sensation across Asia upon its release.
Similar to the original manga, this film will depict the personal growth journey of high school students dedicating their youth to basketball. However, instead of focusing on the perspective of the red-haired Hanamichi Sakuragi, the film follows Ryota Miyagi, the guard of the Shohoku high school basketball team. He has an older brother, Sota, three years his senior, who inspired his love for basketball. Ryota and his teammates, including Hanamichi Sakuragi, Takenori Akagi, Hisashi Mitsui, and Kaede Rukawa, challenge the inter-high school basketball champions, the Sannoh team.
The film The First Slam Dunk will be directed and scripted by the original author, Takehiko Inoue. While maintaining the original spirit that made Slam Dunk successful, presenting the story from a different character's perspective brings freshness and excitement to the film. The First Slam Dunk dominated the Japanese box office upon its release, surpassing Shinkai Makoto's blockbuster Suzume and Avatar: The Way of Water to maintain its reign. The film caused a sensation upon its release in many Asian countries such as Korea, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. Not only Slam Dunk fans, but many audiences who have never watched the anime or read the manga also flocked to theaters to enjoy the undeniable heat of the film. The First Slam Dunk will arrive in Vietnamese cinemas at the end of March.
