No one wants to be sick and confined to a cold, heavily scented hospital room, especially not children. In such times, the feeling of having family and friends visit, care for, and encourage is a comfort and joy beyond measure. However, not every visit revolves around the patient, and sometimes it creates ironic situations that leave one torn between laughter and tears.
Social media recently circulated images in a hospital causing quite a stir. In the pictures, a boy is seen sitting on a chair, next to him on the hospital bed is an elderly man being tenderly cared for by an elderly woman standing beside him.
At first glance, nothing seems noteworthy unless you know the story behind it, recounted by a roommate.

I immediately imagined a scene of grandparents caring for their grandchild with love and warmth. But as soon as I went out to get my things, this was the scene I witnessed.

As it turns out, as recounted by the post's author, the patient in the story is a young boy sitting cross-legged. If you look closely, you may notice that the boy's hand is still connected to the water infusion line. For some reason, the child and his grandfather switched places.
What's more noticeable is the expression of 'helplessness' on the child's face as he watches his grandmother care for his grandfather with every sip of milk and bite of cake. This simultaneously humorous and awkward scene immediately sparked a flurry of comments from netizens.
Some people immediately recalled similar situations during their hospital stays when friends and family came to visit. Meanwhile, many expressed sympathy for the pitiful young patient who not only suffered from illness but also was 'left out' by his grandparents.
