Red Dead Online players are deeply disheartened by Rockstar's decision.
For a long time, GTA 6 has been a burning topic among devoted Rockstar fans. Understandably so, after over 10 years of squeezing out GTA 5, many gamers are feeling disillusioned. Thus, the decision to channel all resources into developing GTA 6 as soon as possible, instead of just making empty promises as Rockstar has done in the past, brings immense joy to many gamers.
But the joy of some becomes the sorrow of others. Alongside this announcement, Rockstar has chosen to cease all updates and developments for Red Dead Online - a game that once shook the gaming world upon its release.

Once deemed a highly promising project, benefiting greatly from the success of Red Dead Redemption - one of the highest-rated open-world games to date, Red Dead Online seemed to have a bright future. However, all aspirations come to a halt as Rockstar openly expresses its ambition to make GTA 6 the pinnacle of the series. In tribute to their beloved game, Red Dead Online players recently held a 'funeral' for this masterpiece.

Rockstar's justification is quite compelling, not only for Red Dead Online but even for the Remaster of Red Dead Redemption 1, which shares a similar fate. However, according to some, the main reason boils down to the less-than-optimistic revenue of Red Dead Online. This has resulted in fewer updates, especially since 2021. Conversely, GTA Online continues to roll out new content relatively consistently.

This action probably won't change Rockstar's mindset. However, at least there will still be new content coming to Red Dead Online until the end of 2022 - as promised by the publisher.
