One Piece: Stampede nearly had a different storyline than expected.
Ace, a character beloved by many One Piece fans, almost took the lead role in a love story immersed in Stampede movie. However, significant script changes were made.

In the movie One Piece: Stampede, the storyline took a significantly different direction for the Straw Hat Pirates compared to the originally planned story, before deciding to introduce some famous pirates from the Grand Line into an exciting search for a never-before-seen treasure. Speaking of One Piece: Stampede, the anime's editors revealed:
'The original version of the film was very different from the version we know today. Initially, the focus would be on Ace's undiscovered love story. After the film Gold, it's clear that Oda was overwhelmed, having to split time between manga and movies. Therefore, Oda's involvement in Stampede was minimized, primarily acting as the author and supervisor. The initial idea was to create a storyline focused on Ace, inspired by the novel about him published at that time. Then, the idea was revised, especially because this is the movie commemorating the 20th anniversary of the manga.'
One Piece: Stampede is fantastic, but it's still a pity that fans didn't get to see a movie delving into Ace's personal life, especially his romantic aspect.

Currently, 'One Piece: Ace's Story' is available in both novel and manga formats, adapted by the renowned comic artist Boichi, famous for his work on Dr. Stone.
The novel's content will follow Ace's journey, from his birth to the childhood years spent with Luffy and Sabo, to when he became a legendary pirate, his adventurous voyages, and Ace's challenges in the Grand Line, as well as the moments before his sacrifice.
