Requirements
Before initiating the steps for activating two-factor authentication, make sure:
- You are utilizing either a personal Zoom account or an Admin account.
- Phone number for receiving OTP codes.
- The steps are similar across Zoom platforms such as Web, Mac, Windows, Android, iOS, or Zoom Rooms.
- Additionally, if you prefer, you can use third-party authenticator apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or FreeOTP to activate Zoom 2FA.
1. For Admin Account
If you are using an Admin account, you can activate two-factor authentication on Zoom by visiting the Zoom homepage : HERE and logging in with your credentials. Next, navigate to Advanced -->Security , here find and activate the Sign in with Two-Factor Authentication option.
At this point, the screen will display a series of options that you can customize for 2FA in your business or organization.
Firstly, you can choose to enable 2FA for all user accounts or specific users:
- All user accounts: this option activates 2FA for all Zoom accounts in your organization or business.
- Specific user roles: activate 2FA for users with roles you specify.
- Users belonging to specific groups: activate 2FA for all users in a specific group.
The next step is to choose the authentication method for Zoom login sessions. If you're an Admin, you can select one of the following options:
- Authenticator app: check this option if you want to use an authenticator app to log in on Zoom.
- Text message: choose this option if you prefer logging in with an OTP sent to your phone.
2. For Personal User Accounts
Similarly, to activate two-factor authentication for a personal Zoom account, first, go to the Zoom homepage: HERE and log in with the user credentials and password. Next, access the personal Profile page, scroll down to find Two-factor Authentication and click on Turn On.
You will be prompted to enter your Zoom password, after completion, click Next.
Next, set up the authentication method by choosing either the authenticator app or SMS message.
3. Activate 2FA on Zoom using an App
To enable 2FA on Zoom using an authenticator app, click on Set Up next to the Authentication app option and open the 2FA app on your phone.
Find and select the Scan QR Code option, open the camera on your phone, activate the QR code scanning mode, scan the code on the Zoom login page.
This step is to generate a 6-digit OTP and log in on your computer's Zoom profile window. Next, click Verify, and a list of recovery codes will appear on the screen.
Make a note of these codes to activate your Zoom account. To store the recovery codes, click Download or Print. After saving the recovery codes, click Done.
4. Activate 2FA on Zoom via SMS
Similar to using an authenticator app, instead, choose Set up next to the SMS option.
On the window displayed on the screen, enter the phone number where you want to receive the OTP and click Send code.
Enter the verification code in the box and click Verify. Save the list of recovery codes, then click Done.

5. Log in to Zoom with 2FA
You can log in to your Zoom account on any platform, including the web, PC and mobile apps, or Zoom Room, using 2FA.
Access the Zoom login page and log in to your account. Enter the password, and you will be prompted to enter the authentication code generated from the 2FA app or the OTP you received on your phone.
Enter the code in the box, then click Verify to complete the process.
6. Zoom Login with Recovery Code
Another way to log in to Zoom is by using the recovery code received during the setup of 2FA on the app.
On the login page, simply find and click on the Enter a Recover Code instead option, enter one of the recovery codes you saved earlier, and click Verify.
7. Change 2FA Authentication Method on Zoom
To modify and change the two-factor authentication method on Zoom, first log in to your account, then go to Profile =>Two-factor Authentication.
Here, a range of options will be displayed: under the Authentication App section, you can choose Change Device and Remove Device . Under the SMS section, you can choose Remove Phone.
