Night Shift mode, similar to Night Light on Windows 10 Creators Update, helps reduce screen brightness, or more precisely, harmful blue light exposure during prolonged use. When enabling Night Light on Windows 10 Creators Update, the screen brightness will decrease or shift to yellow based on your settings. Likewise, on MacOS Sierra, Night Shift mode operates similarly, making it one of the best features to utilize on your MacOS Sierra.
Before Night Shift or Night Light came into play, we often used F.lux software - a screen brightness adjustment tool. F.lux software is highly acclaimed on both Mac and Windows platforms. Step 1: To activate Night Shift mode, first, go to the system settings - System Preferences on your Macbook.
Step 2: In the System Preferences section, click on 'displays' and then select the brightness application that appears.
Step 3: In Display, click on the Night Shift tab, which is where you can enable Night Shift mode on MacOS Sierra.
Step 4: In the Schedule section, there are 3 modes you need to know:
- Off: Turn off Night Shift mode on MacOS Sierra.
- Custom: Customize the Night Shift mode activation on MacOS Sierra.
- Sunset to Sunrise: Set the default time from evening to morning to use Night Shift.
Step 5: Additionally, you can check the Turn On Until Sunrise option to activate immediately when selecting the Sunset to Sunrise mode, adjust the blue or yellow color temperature through Color Temperature .
Step 6: In Custom mode, you can choose to automatically set Night Shift mode and customize the time below. If you want to activate Night Shift mode on MacOS Sierra, click on Turn On Until tomorrow .
With 2 modes to choose from, Custom and Sunset to Sunrise, to activate Night Shift mode on MacOS Sierra, you can customize according to your preference.
