'Smoking is harmful to health' is an extremely familiar phrase, clearly printed and openly displayed on cigarette packaging, often accompanied by images of blackened lungs due to tobacco smoke. Yet, every day, every hour, the rate of smokers continues to rise unabated, and alarmingly, this trend is becoming increasingly prevalent among student and adolescent populations.
Currently, the prevalence of smoking is widespread in society at large, particularly among the student population. It is not uncommon to see adolescents holding cigarettes in their hands and mouths, with some boys as young as ten experimenting with smoking. On various media platforms or social networks, videos depicting adolescents smoking to assert themselves are also circulating. Tobacco smoke has infiltrated and seeped into schools - supposed spaces of knowledge and learning.
