1. Adjusting Karaoke Speaker Sound
Modern portable speakers are incredibly convenient, perfect for karaoke sessions, and easily movable.
Benefits of Setting Up Karaoke Speaker Sound
- Helps your karaoke speaker produce vibrant sounds suitable for karaoke needs.
Enhance your vocal sound control with this microphone.
Eliminate feedback and distortion while singing, even at high volume levels.
Adjust once, use repeatedly for subsequent sessions.
Optimize your karaoke experience with these speaker tuning tips.
Note: Depending on the manufacturer, speakers may feature different control buttons, but typically include system sound adjustment, mic sound adjustment, and music adjustment.
Step 1: Reset the speaker's sound control panel.
Reset all control knobs to zero. Then proceed to adjust each section as follows: Microphone sound adjustment, music sound adjustment, system sound adjustment.
Step 2: Adjust microphone sound.
- Adjust mic volume (MIC VOL/VOL.MIC)
Turn the volume knob clockwise to 9 o'clock, test speaking into the mic and listen to the sound coming from the speaker, ensuring stable, loud, and clear sound.
Then, adjust the volume (do not turn past 1 o'clock) to suit the speaker placement and number of listeners.
If the mic doesn't pick up sound or if there's distorted audio, check the connection between the speaker and the mic (Bluetooth or plug) or the speaker's power source (plug or battery).
Note: Microphone volume is always higher than music volume, with microphone volume at 10 and music volume at 8.
- Adjust sound for microphone
- Adjust treble for microphone (MIC TREBLE/HI.MIC): For microphone treble, turn slowly until the sound is clear and crisp, usually around 1 o'clock.
- Adjust bass for microphone (MIC BASS/LOW.MIC): For microphone bass, turn until your voice sounds warmest, typically around the 7 o'clock position.
Note when adjusting Treble/Bass:
- If you have a warm voice, adjust the treble slightly higher and the bass slightly lower for a clearer sound when singing.
- If you have a shrill voice, adjust the treble lower and bass higher to achieve a warmer tone.
- Avoid setting the treble too high as it can sound piercing, and excessive bass can lead to noise.
- Adjust treble before adjusting bass.
- Adjust MID sound: For mid-range sound, you should only adjust around 9 o'clock to ensure clearer bass and treble. Some speakers have 2 mid knobs: MID HI adjust around 1 o'clock and MID LOW adjust around 11 o'clock.
- Adjust ECHO: Typically when adjusting echo volume, count 1, 2, 3, 4; simultaneously adjust between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock to harmonize voice with music. Focus on the volume of the echo, following the 8/10 rule for echo volume.
- Adjust REPEAT: When adjusting repeat (echo), count 1 and listen to the number of repetitions, then continue counting 2, 3, 4; choose the most reasonable number of repeats, usually adjusting towards 7 o'clock.
- Adjust DELAY: Delay is the time delay of sound, this is the most challenging part to adjust. Adjust so that the echo of the first sound ends before the main sound of the second one starts. Usually towards 7 o'clock.
Note when adjusting Delay:
- If you're singing remix songs, shorten the delay because remix music has fast beats and tempo.
- The ratio of delay to echo is 5/6. Too much distance between delay and echo will cause discomfort to listeners.
- Adjust the delay and repeat knobs proportionally. Additionally, avoid confusion between these two knobs; if you adjust repeat too high, it will cause microphone feedback.
Step 3: Adjust music volume.
Adjusting music is much simpler compared to adjusting the microphone; you just need to follow the 'V' rule.
This means that the bass sound will always be lower than the mid and lower than the treble sound; to maintain a balanced bass-treble sound when playing music, providing you with the best listening experience.
For speakers without a MID knob, you still adjust according to this rule: Bass sound lower than treble sound.
Step 4: Adjust speaker system sound.
To ensure clear, coherent sound output from the speakers, make sure the system sound adjustment knob is set higher than 50% - 80% (from the 12 o'clock to 4 o'clock direction).
Tips for using portable speakers
- Make sure to turn on the power On/Off button when in use, check the microphone battery level, and the connected power source to ensure the speaker is adequately powered.
- Ensure the speaker is fully connected and ready to play music. Connections typically come in 2 types: plug jacks and Bluetooth.
- Avoid placing the speaker horizontally to prevent acid leakage from the battery.
- Use the speaker in a dry, well-ventilated environment, regularly clean it to maintain its condition.
- Remember to remove the remote and microphone batteries to prevent battery leakage when the speaker is not in use for an extended period.
- Allow the speaker to operate 1 - 2 times per month to prevent the speaker membrane from tearing due to inactivity.
