The oven temperature plays a crucial role in achieving delicious dishes. To avoid undercooking or overcooking, it's essential to adjust the oven temperature according to the type of food, such as chicken, fish, or beef.
1. How to Adjust Oven Temperature for Different Types of Food
Oven temperature is a determining factor for a successful cooking experience. To ensure your dish is neither raw nor overcooked, it's important to tailor the oven temperature to each type of food, such as chicken, fish, or beef.
Ribs, Pork (slices)
Ribs have a tender and sweet characteristic, making them a favorite for many. Contrary to popular belief that ribs require slow cooking at low temperatures, they actually need to be baked at a high temperature of 250 degrees for a short period, approximately 10-15 minutes, for even cooking.

Chicken, Duck
Whole roasted chicken and duck are delightfully tender and sweet due to the retained moisture inside the meat. However, the roasting time is relatively long, ranging from 30-40 minutes at a temperature of 180-200 degrees Celsius. If you prefer to roast only the chicken thighs, set the temperature to 180 degrees Celsius and choose a cooking time of just 15-20 minutes for perfection.

Beef
Grilled beef offers a tantalizing aroma, but cooking it for too long can result in toughness and dryness. Therefore, the ideal temperature for grilling beef is 250 degrees Celsius, and it only takes a short duration of 10-15 minutes.

Fish
For a deliciously fragrant grilled fish that isn't fishy or bland, marinate the fish 30 minutes before grilling to allow the flavors to infuse. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius before placing the fish. The average grilling time for a 2.5 cm thick fish fillet is about 10 minutes, as fish cooks quickly. Adjust the grilling time by adding 5 minutes for every additional 1.5 cm thickness. If using foil for wrapping, add 10 minutes to the grilling time. Grilling fish with herbs inside the belly requires an additional 10 minutes. For example, grilling a 4cm thick fish wrapped in foil without added herbs takes 25 minutes.

Seafood
Seafood like shrimp, crab, and squid cooks quickly, so the suitable grilling temperature is around 170 – 180 degrees Celsius. For shrimp and crab, set the oven to 10 – 12 minutes, while clams, snails, and mussels only need 6 – 10 minutes to cook. Before grilling, you can add spices to enhance the flavor of clams, snails, and mussels, while shrimp and crab may not need additional seasoning as they naturally have a sweet and salty taste.
To achieve delicious grilled dishes, consider the following:
- Preheat the oven for about 15 minutes before grilling.
- Marinate the food with spices 30 minutes before placing it in the oven for even flavor absorption.
- Set the appropriate grilling function for each type of food: top heat, bottom heat, or both. Refer to the user manual that comes with the oven for maximum efficiency.
- Clean the oven immediately after grilling to ensure its durability.
