A stunning collection of images captured by the British photographer Jason Hawkes showcasing the magnificent landscapes of London from a bird's-eye view.

Hawkes has spent over two decades photographing aerial views, documenting the beauty of the world's most famous cities. Among them, London stands out as the place where this Oxford native photographer has captured the most images.
What sets Hawkes apart is his unconventional method of capturing these images. Instead of using a drone like most people do, Jason Hawkes leans out of a helicopter to snap his shots.
“London boasts a diverse cultural heritage and an abundance of scenic beauty. It features numerous picturesque parks, towering skyscrapers, and even tranquil neighborhoods resembling quaint villages,” explains Hawkes why he is so enamored with photographing London.
However, due to the abundance of topics, Hawkes found it quite challenging to select truly beautiful locations for shooting.
'I especially love taking photos right after sunset. At that time, the city looks incredibly impressive,' he shared.

The helicopter Hawkes uses for photography is an AS355, typically flying at altitudes ranging from 228m to 762m above ground level.
Occasionally, Hawkes' helicopter descends quite low, just about 120m above the surface of the Thames river, so he can capture unique masterpieces.
'The highest place I've ever photographed was about 6,000m above ground level. I had to wear an oxygen mask, and the weather was extremely cold,' the photographer recalled.
Each photo shoot lasts one or two days. However, if Hawkes wants to descend below 152m, he has to wait for a period of time to obtain permission from the authorities.
