Every photo editing expert knows the difficulty of selecting an object from a portrait photo using Adobe Photoshop's Select Subject tool, especially when selecting the subject's hair. However, the company has made this process much easier with the Select Subject button. This button made its debut in the famous photo editing software in the January 2018 update. Adobe recently released a major update for the software, in which it improved the Select Subject button and made it much more powerful.

Recently, Adobe announced the 'largest feature set since Adobe MAX' and with this update, the company significantly enhanced the Select Subject tool. Now, using Sensei AI, this feature can distinguish an object from its background with maximum precision, particularly focusing on the object's hair. When Adobe introduced the Select Subject tool into Photoshop in 2018, the company only utilized a few AI algorithms. However, with each update, Adobe has improved the feature by adding more algorithms and integrating them. Currently, with the latest update, the company has added 'even more intelligence capabilities' to the feature to enhance the object hair selection.
Currently, based on Adobe's official announcement, there are 2 major changes making Photoshop's object selection tool more robust:
- The Select Subject button can now recognize the content of the image. Now, the tool applies new custom algorithms when detecting a person in the image.
- Hair and details around the hair have been significantly enhanced.
