Venturing into this dining experience, I discovered that not all budget-friendly options are a letdown. The Thai buffet, with its 150 options, shattered my low expectations with its remarkable quality!
A close friend, an aficionado in uncovering budget dining gems, persuaded me to explore the Golden Elephant Buffet. Despite the mere 150k price tag and its third-floor location in Maximark, my skepticism was high. I braced for a mediocre spread or subpar Thai cuisine, perhaps even a crowded mess due to some promotion.
Yet, the outcome was far more impressive than I anticipated!
1. The Golden Elephant Buffet's Thai Cuisine: Authentic Flavors Galore
Given it was a lunch buffet, the spread wasn't as extensive as the dinner buffets I'm accustomed to, featuring around sixty to seventy dishes in total. Being avid fans of Thai cuisine, my friend and I naturally gravitated towards the Thai selections first, skipping the rest.

The Thai dishes here truly exceeded my expectations!!!
Despite bracing myself for potential disappointment, I was pleasantly surprised to find the food significantly better than expected. Among the familiar Thai delights available were grilled pork satay, spicy and sour Thai Pad Thai noodles, fried rice with green curry shrimp, spicy shrimp soup, and more.

Each dish was spot-on in flavor, offering a wide variety albeit slightly less spicy than hardcore fans might expect, with some adjustments made to the intensity of the dishes.
The Golden Elephant's array of Thai curries was impressively comprehensive, featuring green, red, spicy and sour snakehead fish curry, shrimp green curry, and Massaman beef curry, among others. Slightly milder than traditional Thai dishes but bursting with flavor, perfect for pouring over rice or noodles.
2. Non-Thai Dishes Also Impress
Families with children will find this place ideal, as it's not only cool and spacious but also offers a variety of kid-friendly dishes like fried sausages, crispy chicken wings, fried meatballs, and battered fried fish. The fried sausages, cut into bite-sized pieces and cooked to perfection without being too greasy, were a personal favorite. The crispy dishes were just the right level of crunchy.

I absolutely adored these three dishes, and I'm sure any family with kids would share the sentiment!
Also, the dessert menu at The Golden Elephant boasts an array of Thai milk teas and exotic Thai cakes. Going with a close friend to try different flavors and sharing a spoonful of each other’s choices makes for a really fun experience!

The snacks and light bites here are top-notch, a must-try for all!
3. Fell in love with the cool ambiance and the exceptionally skilled staff at The Golden Elephant.
Another highlight for my friend and me at The Golden Elephant was its impeccably clean and cool ambiance, thanks to the air conditioning, plus the effort put into decorating the place with a Thai vibe really sets the mood.
It's just a bit of a bummer that the restaurant is on the third floor of Maximark 3/2, rather than on the ground floor – that would have been perfect!

Despite the crowd, the restaurant maintains an orderly atmosphere, overall remaining quite tranquil.
To top it off, the staff's proficiency is outstanding. Following our visit, a group of Thai customers came in, including two ladies who didn't speak English. Observing the staff effortlessly communicating in Thai was a delight, even though I didn't understand a word!

The place boasts a cool and spacious Thai-style decor, impressing with staff fluent in English, Thai, and Vietnamese.
In summary, giving The Golden Elephant Buffet a solid thumbs up. Far from being 'cheap and nasty', it offers a satisfying feast for just 150k. The ambiance is cool, Thai dishes (especially the desserts) are delightfully tasty, and the staff are both courteous and efficient.
