Not many gamers hold high expectations for this title.
If there's one game that stands out as the biggest disappointment for players worldwide, it's undoubtedly Skull and Bones. Introduced in 2017 amid great hype, this blockbuster endured 6 delays before Ubisoft recently set a definitive release date.

Rewind to 2017, Skull and Bones dazzled many with its impressive graphics and flashy trailer reminiscent of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, promising an expansive online pirate adventure. Despite a closed beta in December, the feedback was underwhelming. There's little to say about Skull and Bones when activities were restricted, with some even quitting after just 2 hours of gameplay.

Now, following the conclusion of its closed beta phase, Ubisoft announces an open beta scheduled from February 8th to 11th across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Players can pre-load the game starting February 6th and enjoy cross-platform play. After nearly 7 years of delays, Ubisoft is confident in bringing this blockbuster to light. However, player reactions are mixed. While some are excited, the majority remain indifferent, perhaps due to the dismal experience from the previous trial. More importantly, they doubt Ubisoft's ability to deliver a noteworthy hit. If it's a dud, the story becomes much clearer.

Additionally, following the trend of many publishers, Skull and Bones offers early access for a small fee, allowing players to dive in a few days ahead. This monetization tactic also extends to the merchandise, available for purchase upon the trial's release. Naturally, this only fuels gamers' resentment towards this much-anticipated title.
