Henry Cavill is ambitiously constructing a cinematic universe for the Warhammer game series.
The past month has indeed been a challenging time for Henry Cavill. Firstly, the actor unexpectedly announced his departure from Netflix's The Witcher after three seasons, handing over the role of Geralt of Rivia to Liam Hemsworth. And just two days ago, Henry revealed he won't be returning as Superman in the DC cinematic universe, as director James Gunn is looking for a younger face to take on the iconic role.
While many fans express concern about the actor's seemingly 'unemployed' status, Henry Cavill recently joyfully revealed his new destination: the Warhammer 40,000 film series, adapted from Games Workshop's tabletop game of the same name, and developed by Amazon Studios.

On his personal social media pages, Henry stated: “For 30 years, I've dreamt of the day the Warhammer universe graces the big screen. Now, with 22 years in this industry, I finally feel equipped with the skills and experience to bring the Warhammer cinematic universe to life.”
“Collaborating with Natalie Viscuso at Vertigo is an indescribable honor. Without her, we might not have found the perfect home at Amazon. And with a powerhouse like Amazon, we will have the freedom to explore the vast scope of the Warhammer universe.”
“To all Warhammer fans, I promise to honor the brand we all cherish. I commit to bringing you the most familiar and extraordinary experience. The first step we need to take is to assemble the right production/creative/writing team. Stay tuned, my friends.”

Henry Cavill, alongside his girlfriend Natalie Viscuso, has been developing the Warhammer 40,000 film project for several months before Amazon secured the rights from Games Workshop, bringing this franchise to their studio. Henry himself is a devoted Warhammer fan, meticulously painting models of the game during the social distancing period in mid-2020.
On her personal Instagram, Natalie stated: “Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my creative forte. So, when Henry introduced Warhammer to me a few years ago, I genuinely felt a deep connection. The rich and complex stories of Warhammer provide an ideal canvas for players to unleash their imagination, and the characters, whether heroes or pitiable to what extent, never leave you. Building a cinematic universe with Henry, alongside our team at Amazon, and the Games Workshop empire behind us, is truly a great joy and honor.”
While Warhammer 40,000 is still in the process of searching for a writer and director, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill himself will serve as the executive producer for this project. Joining him are Roy Lee and Natalie Viscuso from Vertigo Entertainment. Moreover, Henry seems to have high expectations for Warhammer 40,000, believing it could be the start of a new cinematic universe in the near future.
