A study on automobiles conducted by Zebra (USA) based on user surveys and industry leaders reveals that car buyers are increasingly demanding. Buyers expect cars to be personalized, transparent about accessories, and environmentally friendly. Notably, when considering buying or renting a vehicle, 81% of consumers want to understand the origin of materials or accessories in the car.In response to this trend, investing in technology is the solution chosen by car manufacturers, not only for technologies integrated into cars but also for technologies serving the production process. Data indicates that 7 out of 10 car manufacturers plan to increase spending on technology; 6 out of 10 manufacturers plan to increase budgets for production infrastructure in 2023.
Vietnam is also keeping up with the global trend, with a race to integrate smart assistant technology by car brands and screen manufacturers being the clearest evidence. Currently, Kiki is the most popular Vietnamese voice assistant in cars, easily accessible in the Vietnamese market with an increasing number of users.For instance, Kiki, the first intelligent assistant developed by Vietnamese engineers at Zalo AI, was introduced in December 2020. Similarly, VinFast Vivi made its appearance alongside the VF e34 model in October 2021. However, with Vivi only available in VinFast cars, it's fair to say that Kiki is the popular Vietnamese voice assistant in cars, more accessible in the domestic market. Kiki has also achieved significant growth milestones with 300,000 installations by March 2023.
Major screen manufacturers like Zestech, Gotech, Oled, Safeview, Bravigo, are leveraging this advantage by default integrating Kiki assistant into all their product lines. To date, nearly 30 smart screen manufacturers have pre-installed this 'Made in Vietnam' voice assistant.At the beginning of the year, TCMS - Motrex Korea - Zalo AI officially joined hands, stating that they will integrate Kiki assistant into the In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system on Korean cars in the Vietnamese market. According to RationalStat's market assessment report, the global automotive voice assistant market is predicted to experience significant growth from 2022 to 2030.Another report by Navigant Research forecasts that voice assistants will be integrated into approximately 90% of new vehicles sold globally by 2028. Despite fierce competition, investors remain optimistic about the potential of the smart assistant market. In the future, there will be many new investments in this field.Factors contributing to market growth include increasing demand for integrating voice assistants in cars; emphasis on connectivity, focusing on driving safety, reducing driver distraction; advancements in natural language processing technology, speech recognition; user demand for personalized services; visual experiences, and more.The latest report on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) readiness index shows that Vietnam ranks 55th globally (up 7 places from 2021) and ranks 6th out of 10 in ASEAN. In recent years, government agencies have implemented specific policies to promote the development of AI technology applications. The Prime Minister has also issued a National Strategy on AI research, development, and application until 2030.
