How Can I Clean Air Purifier and AC Filter?
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology: For air purifiers and air conditioners, a dirty filter reduces cooling efficiency, increases electricity consumption, and generates loud noise. If the machine runs frequently, clean the air filter every 2 weeks.
On the air conditioner mask (where air is taken in), there is a button or lever to remove the mask. Pull the filter out by sliding it downward. It is best to use a vacuum cleaner to clean it thoroughly. If using water, dry the filter in the shade before reinstalling. The air filter is simply a dust filter, while the air purifier filter removes fine particles such as cigarette smoke, odors, and mold.
In the past, they were primarily made from activated charcoal, but nowadays many chemical compounds are utilized. HEPA filters are not sold together with the machine but must be separately purchased, typically needing replacement every 3 months. They are small panels installed on the filter, occupying a very small portion of it, incapable of regeneration or cleaning and reusing like regular filters.
