The new airport – Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) is located in Tayek commune, Nam Nikom district, approximately 55km from the center of Siem Reap province and about 40km from the Angkor archaeological park.
According to the Cambodian government, the airport change aims to ensure no impact on the famous world wonder Angkor Wat while upgrading to more modern infrastructure.
The new Siem Reap Angkor Airport will be capable of accommodating large aircraft, including models such as A340-300, A350-900, B777-200, B777-300ER, B747-300, and B747-400. Moreover, the airport will have a total of 48 gates to facilitate passenger operations more conveniently.
