1. AirVisual App - A Must-Have for Monitoring Air Pollution Levels
For several consecutive days, the air quality index of major cities, especially in Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, has been consistently poor, directly impacting our quality of life. Many are wondering how we can regularly check pollution levels. Fret not! In this article, Mytour will guide you on the quickest way to check air quality right on your smartphone through the Air Quality (AirVisual) app, which is currently trending.
Air Quality (AirVisual) is a free app providing information on air quality for over 10,000 cities in 80 countries worldwide. Currently on the App Store for iOS users, AirVisual (Air Quality) ranks 2nd in the Free App category. In the Android version, it stands at 41, trailing behind social media, photo editing, e-commerce apps, etc. In the Weather App category, AirVisual is at the top in both iOS and Android app stores in Vietnam with thousands of downloads.
Key features on Air Quality (AirVisual)
- Provides air quality based on the AQI (US index).
- Issues warnings and advice for each level.
- Forecasts air quality for 1 week.
- Global air quality map.
- Looks up concentrations of some hazardous agents like: PM2.5, PM10, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide.
Air Quality (AirVisual) Which scale does it use?
The AirVisual app utilizes the air quality index (AQI) scales from the US and China.
AQI is calculated in various ways globally. China and the US have the most widely used systems, with the US index becoming the world's standard.
This index ranges from 0 to 500, where higher values indicate higher air pollution levels and adverse effects on health.
According to the US AQI standard, an index of 100 or above is considered unhealthy for health.
PM 2.5-10 refers to airborne particles in the air with a diameter smaller than or equal to 2.5-10 micrometers. Particles with a diameter less than 10 micrometers can be inhaled by humans when breathing, accumulating in the lungs and posing health risks. Particles with a diameter less than 2.5 micrometers are particularly hazardous as they directly infiltrate the lung sacs.
Nồng độ PM 2.5 (μg/m3 ) | Mức độ cảnh báo |
0.0 - 15.4 | Tốt |
15.5 -40.4 | Trung bình |
40.5 - 65.4 | Ảnh hưởng đến nhóm nhạy cảm |
65.5 - 150.4 | Tác động xấu đên sức khỏe |
150.5 - 250.4 | Tác động rất xấu đến sức khỏe |
250.5 - 350.4 | Nguy hiểm |
350.5 - 500.4 | Rất nguy hiểm |
Guide to checking air quality using the Air Visual App:
Step 1: Download the Air Quality (AirVisual) app on your phone:
- Android Operating System: Click here to download >> Air Quality | AirVisual for Android OS
- iPhone/ iPad: Click here to download >> Air Quality | AirVisual for iOS
Step 2: Turn on GPS to activate automatic location search> Then launch the Air Quality (AirVisual) app. On the main interface, the app will provide information on air quality at your location, such as AQI index, PM 2.5 index, alert levels, etc.
At different times, air quality varies, and the app will offer the most suitable health recommendations for you. For example: The AQI measured on the morning of September 30, 2019, in the North Tu Liem area - Hanoi is 162 - harmful to health.
If the app doesn't display the PM2.5 index on the interface, you can activate it by going to Settings (gear icon) > Enable PM2.5 Concentration.
With the AQI index in Hanoi categorized as poor, the app provides 4 recommendations:
- Wear a mask when going outside.
- Use an air purifier.
- Close windows to avoid external air pollution.
- Avoid outdoor exercises.
The app recommends running an air purifier.
You can also monitor air quality in various provinces and cities in Vietnam and other countries worldwide through integrated charts and pollution rankings.
Air quality in Hanoi and provinces in September has been harmful to health.
Districts like Ha Dong, Cau Giay, Bac Tu Liem, Long Bien... consistently have high AQI levels
