The Overwhelming Strength of Champions with Massive Health Pools and Ultra-Thick Shields in Teamfight Tactics
There's a theory most Teamfight Tactics players are aware of: to construct a strong team, frontline resilience and backline damage are essential. Therefore, champions with high durability are as vital as carries regardless of the meta.

This remains true in Season 6, where resilient traits like Duelists, Guardians, and Sentinels are highly favored. However, a challenge arises in Season 6 with many champions boasting massive health pools and excessively thick shields, making them nearly invincible. Even units like Vex, without defensive traits, are formidable due to their thick shields. So, how do you counter these types of champions in Season 6?

Firstly, let's explore the most common methods: using anti-tank items. Two items often prioritized against tanky units are Giant Slayer and Last Whisper. Against opponents with large shields, the damage amplification from Giant Slayer's passive increases. Therefore, if you're using units like Urgot, Jhin, or even Yone, consider equipping Giant Slayer.

Next, Lord's Edge is also a great option to neutralize the strongest tankiness of the enemy team and open up opportunities to eliminate other units. This item is particularly effective against teams with Vex as their main frontline tank, as this unit often stands alone in the front line and is susceptible to being neutralized by Lord's Edge. Additionally, you can use a 2-star Mercenary for a similar effect if you don't have a Lord's Edge item.

When dealing with specific champions, Samira should be the first unit you consider to counter opposing tanks. Her abilities naturally reduce armor and can stack up. If Samira continuously uses her skills, the enemy frontline will be swiftly obliterated. Additionally, Jayce in melee form is also a viable option as his abilities reduce the target's armor and magic resist by up to 50% at 1-star level.

Furthermore, Tahm Kench is also an incredibly effective counter to tanky champions thanks to his Devour ability. Even if Tahm Kench cannot eliminate a target, temporarily neutralizing the enemy's tanky champion for a few seconds is already a potent effect. Additionally, when Tahm Kench spits out this unit, he targets the backline, significantly reducing the value of the tanky champions.

It is hoped that with the aforementioned counter methods, players can effectively minimize the strength of enemy tanky units and secure victory.
