Entangled in a web of comical errors, Payday 3 bears the brunt of criticism before considering an offline mode
Backlash against the incessantly online system and consistently erratic servers forces Payday 3 producers to orchestrate a live stream to heed gamers' voices.Payday 3's initial days post-launch were as dynamic as anticipated, but sadly, the fervor wasn't a symphony of praises but rather a tumult of unrest. Initially, only a faction of gamers opposed the game's mandatory online requirement, but the recurring server instability and crashes, leading to intermittent maintenance breaks, impacted the entire player base.

Starbreeze Studios developers had to diligently address continuous server issues and respond to queries and bug reports from gamers. They promptly reacted by organizing a dedicated live stream to directly engage with gamers.
“We're sitting here today because the game's launch didn't go smoothly,” shared Almir Listo, brand director of Payday 3. “We released Payday 3, a game we've poured effort into for many years, into your hands last Thursday. In the first few hours, everything seemed smooth. You robbed, you had a great time, you started to see the features you liked, the features you didn't like, and imagined features you need in the future. But then the server crashed. We brought it back up, it crashed again. We restored it, tweeted about the situation, and it crashed again.”
Discussing these challenges, developers hinted at the potential of introducing some form of offline play but did not confirm it entirely. The developer representative mentioned they couldn't guarantee an offline mode but were considering the possibility. They also didn't shy away from acknowledging the drawbacks of using an offline mode, citing lessons learned from the Payday 2 experience, such as the inability to control hacking/cheating and the emergence of subpar self-hosted servers.
Furthermore, developers outlined various other features for analysis to find ways to alleviate server load, such as optimizing lobby systems, queues, and matchmaking. Developers also issued apologies for unexpectedly poor service in the first few days of release. They announced ongoing observations and investigations into all aspects, including the potential for an offline solution, to make the best decisions to address the current situation.
