The Đà River flows gracefully through Ba Khan commune, Mai Châu district, Hòa Bình province, creating a uniquely captivating reservoir known locally as Hồ Ba Khan. Renowned for its beauty, we explored its charm at various times of the year and were always amazed by the enchanting landscapes.

Hồ Ba Khan, embraced by travelers and adventure enthusiasts, is the on-land counterpart of Hạ Long Bay, earning numerous accolades. A rare scene of the highlands, green hills, and azure waters resembling the distant East Sea hundreds of kilometers away.

Amidst the vast plains and deep, mysterious forests, Hồ Ba Khan emerges splendidly, embracing small islets that mirror its grandeur, creating a captivating and expansive reservoir.

In the late winter and spring months, before the rainy season, the lake's intense green, clarity, vividly reflects the colors of the high sky and mountain forests, creating an endless sense of vastness.

The lake's surface is calm, serene, and beautiful like a giant mirror, occasionally rippled by a few golden leaves falling or someone casting a fishing line. Small boats navigate the lake, either for fishing or providing visitors with scenic views, yet they do not disturb the tranquility and smoothness of the emerald waters.

During the flood season, from late summer to autumn, water rushes down from the source. Sometimes turbulent, sometimes gentle, the lake's depths can become swirling, or calm and tranquil, but the green water gives way to the deep red color of the forest floor. The entire lake resembles a mighty, wrathful river, rugged and tumultuous yet bearing the magnificent beauty of the Northwest mountains and forests.
