First time witnessing the breathtaking view of the Red River and Vinh Tuy Bridge! First time indulging in buffet on a high floor! All summed up in one phrase: satisfaction!
When it comes to high-rise restaurants in Hanoi, you may not have dined at any 'attic' restaurants yet, but for me, this was a first time experience. At Sen Viet Buffet, and it was truly an unforgettable 'first time'.
The serendipity of this dining outing was just a company birthday party, but it happened at a luxurious venue, so everyone was excited.
Feeling on Top of the World!
This buffet restaurant is located on the 18th floor of Sahul Hanoi Hotel, occupying the entire floor. As soon as people step out of the elevator, the space is filled with light from the large windows, especially in the evening, making everyone feel awake.

First time being so high up and the best part is having a view of the Red River
As we had made reservations and went to eat early, our company managed to get tables by the windows. Dining while enjoying the scenery outside, just recalling it makes me feel amazing.

In the late afternoon, waiting for the city lights to come on and enjoying the impressive cityscape

The ambiance here is quite luxurious and impressive – truly befitting of a 4-star hotel buffet
The cuisine is equally impressive
As before, I had been told by my boss that we would dine at a 4-star hotel, so I assumed it would be lavish. Out of habit, I had a light meal before the afternoon. But upon arrival, I was truly dazzled by the plethora of food; at that moment, I felt regretful for not having a bigger appetite.

A 4-star hotel buffet is in a league of its own; just admiring it is enough to dazzle you with so many dishes.
The buffet here has a total of 9 counters, arranged quite sensibly for you to stroll around, both exploring and choosing your favorite dishes.
The appetizers alone are enough to dazzle you with so many dishes
First up is the appetizers; just the appetizer counter alone is enough to make you dizzy with the multitude of dishes. An entire row of salads, alongside with rolls, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, even black olives... The dishes are not plentiful but are constantly replenished so you don't have to worry about running out.

Starting with salad, as usual in many places
Japanese-style appetizers
Next to it are the Japanese food counters. There's sushi, edamame, rice rolls, salmon sashimi, octopus, oysters, pancakes, tempura... Each dish is beautifully arranged, making you want to try them all at once, but I restrained myself and only chose a few sushi, tempura, and oysters.

Various types of sushi
European-style appetizers
Besides, there are still appetizers available. I was told by a staff member that there's a European appetizer counter, while the area I just passed through was Japanese appetizers. Glancing over, I saw countless tempting dishes like cold cuts, pizza, french fries, both seafood spring rolls and fresh rolls, even bread. There's also soup here, but since I've already had sushi and tempura, I decided to skip it even though the seafood soup here looks super delicious.

This is the European appetizer counter

The pizza is quite delicious, not too heavy, and you don't have to worry about feeling full because of the thin, crispy crust
The dishes are presented like works of art
Now onto the main courses. The main dishes here are quite unique, it's hard to guess just by looking at the names. They are all served in large bowls, and when the light shines on them, they look beautiful like a still-life painting.

Every dish is beautifully presented like a still-life painting

This crispy fried squid

Salted freshwater crab

Indian-style chicken wings

Philippine pork knuckles
Every dish looks beautiful, but there's not enough time to take photos of everything and eat, so I only managed to capture a few dishes from the hot grill section. My favorite is the Indian-style chicken wings, marinated with exotic spices, rich in flavor, tender without being tough or greasy.
An impressive Vietnamese corner
There's an interesting corner here that I'll remember for a long time, and that's the Vietnamese food section. They have everything from spring rolls, banh xeo, pillow cakes, steamed rice cakes, crab noodle soup, chicken pho... I counted almost 20 dishes!

Desserts as colorful as a rainbow Finally, it's time to stop. Equally grand like the other counters. The dessert section at Sen Viet buffet offers fruits, sweet soups, ice cream, mousse cakes...

The dessert counter shines brightly like a rainbow.

I grabbed a few desserts and returned to my seat, enjoying the Hanoi night outside the window and still feeling the thrill of being high up
Conclusion:
The ambiance was stunning (especially the view overlooking the Red River), the service quality was decent, and the variety of dishes was overwhelming (especially for those with narrow stomachs like me trying to lose weight, it was quite challenging). Personally, I found the food quality to be okay, not too impressive but fresh, tasty, and visually appealing. I still haven't forgotten the exhilarating feeling of dining so high up, enjoying the dishes at the 4-star hotel restaurant while overlooking the Red River.
Regarding the price, as it was covered by the company, I didn't pay much attention, but I heard they currently offer a discount at around 250,000 VND per buffet if you go individually. For birthday parties like ours, they even provide a complimentary birthday cake and Karaoke session.
