Ranked Play 2023
One of the most anticipated aspects for many League of Legends players is the ranked mode. As announced by Riot, starting from the 2023 season, there will be a ranking phase summary and a complete reset of all rankings. Of course, players will receive corresponding rewards based on their performance before transitioning to the next ranking phase.

- Ranking Reset: The reset process in Phase 2 of the ranking season will not change significantly from the early January reset to ensure players can climb the ranks without starting from scratch. The Mid-Year Reset will also have less impact on those who don't play much from January.
- Rewards: Players can now claim all ranking rewards in each Ranking Cycle, including icons, emotes, ranking frames, and ranking skins. In 2023, there will be 2 ranking skins along with many other enticing rewards awaiting you on the ranking climb.
An important note is that players won't need to reach Gold or higher to receive skins as before. Instead, players can obtain these skins by playing a certain number of ranked matches (the specific number depends on the ranking). According to Riot's previous information, this change is aimed at preventing some players from reaching the standard and then not playing ranked to maintain their rank.

Players will still receive a chroma based on their final rank at the end of the ranking period.
Season Launch Event
From January 10-11, 2023, LCS, LEC, LCK, LPL, LJL, CBLOL, LLA, PCS, and VCS tournaments will host a special 2-day broadcast event to introduce the 2023 season and honor notable players of the year. Riot will also unveil the first information about the 2023 season in TFT and reveal the plans for League of Legends Esports in 2023.

All professional players from the 9 leagues will compete in the Season Launch Event. Team selection will vary by region, so LCS and PCS tournaments will have differences in organization. Matches will be arranged as BO3 on Summoner's Rift. Teams cannot ban champions or pick a champion that has been played in a previous match. Each winning team will have the opportunity to collaborate with our designers to create emotes for League of Legends.
The Launch Event will replace the All-Star Showdown. While the All-Star Showdown brought memorable moments for players and fans over the years, the current schedule may be challenging for many players. Therefore, replacing the All-Star Showdown with the Season Launch Event will provide professional players with a well-deserved break. It will also be a new platform for fans to enjoy the competitive atmosphere in the late part of the year.

Social Impact Challenges
To celebrate the new updates for the jungle, League of Legends is hosting a special Social Impact Challenge for players worldwide. For every 100 Season 2023 missions each player completes before January 24, Riot Games will contribute $1 to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. This fund, sponsored by ImpactAssets, aims to support environmental conservation activities (up to $1 million USD).
