Unlike the lively Cua Dai Beach, the serenity and emptiness of An Bang will capture your heart from the very first moment.
An Bang Beach – Hoi An's Tranquil Paradise
A few years ago, on my first visit to Hoi An, I only knew about Cua Dai Beach. The beach was located far from the bustling Hoi An town with a picturesque, crowded road filled with street vendors offering the tempting aroma of grilled fish and steamed squid. A year later, when I returned, I chose An Bang as my late afternoon destination. From that moment until now, An Bang remains one of the most beautiful beaches, evoking a sense of tranquility and peace.

An Bang Beach is a bit closer to Cua Dai, just a 10-minute taxi ride straight ahead. Despite the proximity, An Bang is much quieter than Cua Dai. Cua Dai always gives us a lively feeling with the excited shouts of young groups playing under the waves.
An Bang, on the other hand, is different. After a short bike ride, you'll see a captivating emerald green from a distance. However, it's only when you walk through the rows of outside stalls, set foot on the smooth white sand, and step onto the beach that your soul truly becomes overwhelmed by the beauty before you. The beach is vast, displaying the vivid blue of the sky and water, like bold strokes of freedom painted on a large canvas. The endless stretch of white sand resembles a delicate ivory ribbon. But the most remarkable thing is that the beach is always deserted, with the gentle sound of waves rather than the noisy excitement of Cua Dai.

You might ask, what's fun about a deserted beach? Well, truth be told, there's nothing enjoyable if you can't find joy in that solitude. Personally, I've grown weary of the crowded, cramped beaches elsewhere. Thus, I am enamored by the tranquility of this place, and I believe many other young souls feel the same. However, to say An Bang is entirely desolate would be a misconception.
In An Bang, there are still seafood stalls and drink spots where a simple stroll will have someone extending tempting offers to you. But don't let those sweet words entice you too much. Just a short walk away (usually turning left from the main entrance), and you'll discover charming bars run by foreigners. Their signs are often colorful bean bags and small huts with vibrant cushions arranged on the sandy beach. Getting lost in these places, you'll be constantly amazed by the cute and fascinating ambiance they create in the surroundings.

You know, who among us can resist a single bed with a purple mattress, placed under a coconut leaf umbrella on a pristine white sand beach? Or a bamboo-framed sofa with linen-covered cushions directly facing the sea? Just the thought of lying on those beds, cute chairs, reading a good book, playing some lively tunes, and sipping on a refreshing coconut drink is enough to make anyone appreciate the true luxury of solitude.

But speaking of solitude, the best feeling is experiencing An Bang with your friends. With the beach so empty, you can freely frolic without worrying about anyone's gaze, except maybe a few Western tourists finding amusement in your antics. The waves at An Bang are also large and strong (not strong enough to sweep you far out, so don't panic), allowing you to indulge in wave jumping and beach ball games.
Especially in An Bang, there are plenty of bars offering surfboard rentals. And after hours of swimming, exhausted from the playful antics with your friends, you can still crawl onto the shore, lie on those cute chairs, waiting until the sea breeze completely dries you, surrounded by the echoing music from a nearby live music café. Then you feel the happiness flooding every cell of your being.

Of course, I won't make a comparison here and say An Bang is better than Cua Dai. Each beach has something that makes our hearts love, remember. But I believe that, coming to An Bang, the feeling of stepping into a paradise with only yourself and a few other tourists enjoying the quiet, sweet essence of the sea is a wonderful sensation that I think everyone should experience at least once.
