Defraggler is a small, free utility by Piriform designed to analyze and scan drives. It features a scientific, user-friendly interface. Defraggler can assist in detailed drive statistics and analysis, including drive health, capacity, manufacturer, and rotation speed.
Guide to Analyzing Hard Disk on Windows 8 with Defraggler
Step 1: Download and install the application on your computer. You can get the latest version of Defraggler here.
Step 2: Launch the software. The interface is as shown below.
Tip: To switch to the Vietnamese interface, go to Settings -->Options -->General -->Language and select Vietnamese.
As seen above, the interface is quite simple yet still provides comprehensive and detailed information about the drive.
+ Section (1) presents a statistical overview of the drives available in your Windows 8 system, including free space, used space, and more.
+ Section (3) After the analysis, it provides insights into the health status, file conditions, file attributes, etc., in a tabular format. Each cell represents whether the file is fragmented, read, written, or empty.
+ Section (2) consists of tools for listing, analyzing, and managing hard drives.
Step 3: Perform drive analysis. Refer to the image below; first, identify the drive to analyze in the Driver section (1), then click on Analyze as shown (2). Once the analysis is complete, the program will compile statistics about the files in area (3).
- Area (3) consists of differently colored squares. You can refer to the Driver map to understand the significance of these colors.
Here, we gain an overview of the attributes of files and folders such as empty files, read files, written files, fragmented files... on the drive through the analysis chart.
- The Files List option will list the files that are corrupted after analysis:
- The Search option allows you to search for files within the system.
- You can also check the drive's health, temperature, rotational speed, etc., in the Health section.
- The Statistics section provides analysis over time, tracking your analysis activities by day, month, and more.
Thus, Defraggler allows you to analyze your drive quickly with just a few simple steps, providing insight into your current drive information, health status, and more.
