Recently, Google support forums have been flooded with reports of call issues when using Android Auto on Pixel phones. Specifically, incoming calls are routed through the phone speaker instead of the car speaker. Interestingly, this issue seems to occur only with Android Auto while other multimedia apps work fine. Despite the frequent occurrence of the issue, the tech giant has not released any bug fixes yet.
Android 13 addresses call issues with Android Auto.
In a recent development, earlier this month, members of the Android Auto development team announced that the company has released an update to fix this issue, at least on Pixel phones.
The Android 13 update has fixed the issue, so calls via Android Auto now go through the car speaker instead of the device speaker. However, only Pixel 4a devices and above can update to Android 13. There is still no information on bug fixes for older Pixel phone models.

In another update reported by Mytour.vn, Google is currently investigating another Android Auto issue on Pixel phones. Specifically, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro seem to be experiencing random connection and disconnection issues with Android Auto without clear causes. Google mentions that they still need more error reports to investigate the root cause and notes that this issue is unrelated to the Android Auto issues that occurred on these two models last month.
